The Ponderosa Guest Ranch

About This Center

The Ponderosa Guest Ranch is situated on 160 acres outside of the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex in Forestburg, Texas. We are a backroads sanctuary and offer boutique womens retreats throughout the year. Our goal is to create a one of kind Texas experience while allowing our guests to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and melt into the comfort of nature, and our warm and hospitable staff. We have four cozy cabins, a private chef, massage therapist, and yoga/meditation is offered twice daily. We have acreage to explore, with three hiking trails, a pond for stand up paddle boards, skeet shooting, and longhorn feedings daily. And if you want to play Cowgirl, we even allow our guests to help with sunrise ranch chores. We offer nightly campfires and S'mores under the strung lights and the big starry skies. We are fortunate to be located near several Texas wineries, and the quaint town square of SaintJo for off-campus excursions. The ranch is all about taking time for self-care, connecting with nature, and to having old fashioned face to face conversations as we strive to be present with each activity and interaction. Y'all come see us!

      Stars are bright

My wife and arrived around 4:00 on a Friday. We where very excited about arriving. The drive in, once off any roads with more than 2 lanes, was beautiful. We did not expect it to be 'hill country'. Being that it was, it made the last 30-45 minutes an exercise in, 'keeping your head on a swivel.' Once we pulled in, we were greeted with a warm, smiling face that seemed genuinely glad to see us. She gave us a quick tour of the property and showed us our beautiful cabin. Very warm & cozy. My wife and I loved the (closed in) outdoor shower. Very creative. I enjoyed catching a good number of bass & perch. While my wife helped the owner feed the amazing longhorns. My favorite part was playing guitar around the campfire. The moon was nearly full, but we could still see the stars overhead. When she turned the l string ights on at the main house, it seemed like a festival. The food around town is good and owner recommended some great places. She also made a great breakfast. We felt very welcome and when time came to go, both us, and another couple staying, were sad to leave. Hope to return soon. I count it as one of my 'all time favorite' weekends.

      Love this place

This is my third visit to the ranch. I love the yoga, the camaraderie, the food, and the beauty of the place. Lori is a fantastic host who urges you to treat her home as if it’s your own. I can’t wait to visit again.

Why Retreat?

We asked people why they go on retreat, here's what they said:

I am an oncology nurse and a few long time patients have died recently. I need to rejuvenate and return to my breath! Elizabeth
