About this Retreat
Your Guides
All of our medicine retreats will be conducted by Humberto Alcala, who is best described as a modern-day medicine man. Ten years ago, after several personal experiences with ayahuasca, the medicine led him away from his successful contracting business in California towards becoming a highly respected facilitator – and Shaman - of mental exploration and emotional healing through sacred medicines.
The culmination of this path resulted in training with an experienced traditional Shipibo Shaman, while living amongst the indigenous tribes deep in the Peruvian jungle near Pucallpa Peru. It was a journey which consisted of multiple master plant dietas, vision quests, and deep inner work. Humberto's background combined with traditional shamanic training provides an effective bridge between the western psychology of most participants alongside the native South American medicines and cosmology. This allows retreat guests to get the most from their experience and integrate the lessons learned during ceremonies.
Starting from small scale sessions in his birthplace of Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico, his work now takes him worldwide – to many regions of Mexico, numerous cities in the United States, Europe, and now to South America. Now, with nearly 8 years of experience, Humberto has performed over 400 sacred medicine ceremonies. His down-to-earth, easy going and compassionate personality makes all that come to ceremony with him feel safe and know they are in good hands. His philosophy is there’s nothing to fix, and we are already perfect as is. What he offers is an opportunity for people to come home to themselves, and in so doing, to learn, to grow, to heal, and ultimately, to remember themselves.
Jamie provides integration support for Mexisoul participants both during and after the retreat. She is a trained educator who has earned a master’s degree in Transpersonal Psychology. For the last ten years, Jamie has coached professionals and business owners to create more of what they want by thinking beyond the perceived limits of conditioned and conventional boundaries.
Seeking new tools and solutions for both her and her clients, Jamie attended the first Mexisoul retreat in March 2022. She returned as a participant several times over the next year to gain a better understand of the lasting benefits of plant medicine. In April 2023, Jamie returned to La Finca as a member of our staff. Using her knowledge of Transpersonal Psychology and her experience in client work, she helped redesign our integration program to offer more extensive support to participants.
During the retreat, Jamie leads group discussions on integration, what to expect after the retreat, and how to benefit most from your work with plant medicine. She is also available during the retreat for one-on-one personalized sessions.
After returning home, she will be available through both private and group texting to answer questions and a one-on-one call.
Jamie believes we are continually on the edge of vast untapped potential, that plant medicine isn’t necessary, but is one of the most powerful and effective tools available to get a glimpse into what’s possible, to know we are already whole, and to find peace and wellbeing.

Our all inclusive retreats feature a variety of rooming options to accommodate our guests needs. We offer affordable shared hostel rooms, shared dorm style rooms for smaller groups, private rooms/bathrooms for individuals, couples or friends, as well as large deluxe rooms with private bathrooms and a Jacuzzi for individuals, friends, or couples. Dorm Style Retreat
These room styles are ideal for guests seeking a comfortable retreat experience at an affordable price.
Each secluded shared room features a limited number of beds and spacious shared bathroom.
Please note some mattresses for this room style are slightly different sizes (double or twin), bed assignments
will be prioritized by order of registration.
Private Ranch Style Retreat
Our Ranch Style rooms are a great option for guests wishing to have more privacy during their retreat.
Accommodations feature a spacious private room, queen size bed, and private bathroom.
12 % discount on total retreat package price for groups of two sharing the room.
Two of the Ranch Style Rooms contain a sofa bed,
Groups of 3 wanting to share this rooms will receive a 16% discount on total room price
Private Room Shared Bathroom Retreat
A cozy private room with a double size bed in the Hormiguero House. It shares one of two bathrooms (4 showers, 3 toilets) with guest in the house. The room has access to a shared kitchen. A couple wanting to share the room will receive a 10% discount on the total retreat price.
Deluxe Room Retreat
The Finca offers two deluxe private rooms with personal Jacuzzi available for guests seeking a more relaxing and peaceful retreat experience. Each private room contains a private bathroom w/Jacuzzi, and queen size bed. These peaceful rooms are located in the most secluded are of the Finca.
We offer a 15% discount on total retreat price for groups of two wishing to book the room.

More than expected
I knew my time at the MexiSoul retreat would be profound, deep, difficult, and transformative, but I didn’t realize to what extent nor do I think I understood what those terms truly meant until the retreat was complete. To be honest, I’m still mulling it all over! I was blown away by the love of the staff and the love and mutual respect between the other attendees. Refreshingly, I never felt coerced or put on the spot or less than; there was no hint of any of the damaging social constructs we are surrounded with on a daily basis. It felt like I could truly breathe for the first time in a long time. Upon coming home, I realized I had gained back empathy for the world around me and felt a newfound appreciation for my life, my surroundings, and the universe. If you are at all interested in plant medicine or feel a tugging in your heart towards it, you owe yourself the opportunity to crack that door open and see what is waiting for you in the space beyond. There is no need to fear; you’ll have the best group of people holding and supporting you through each and every step.
