Retreat Highlights
- In this 12 day retreat you get 5 ceremonies with a day of rest (so important!) between each one. If you want to get more ceremonies in, it's possible to get 7 ceremonies in these 12 days, 1 extra Ayahuasca ceremony in the middle of the retreat and 1 more extra Ayahuasca ceremony at the end if you stay one day longer.
- You can also participate in all our yoga and meditation classes and all the workshops and activities we offer. Enjoy the hot tub and steam room, hike on the land or the 100s of miles of country roads around us. Enjoy the REAL Ecuador tourists never get to see. Make lots of new lifelong friends as well! We become a spiritual family at every retreat.
- Housing is comfortable and modern, and the mattresses are the best in Ecuador! Hot showers 24/7 and 3 yummy vegetarian/vegan meals every day. The ayahuasca diet doesn't have to be bland, we make it taste great, and people rave about our food!

- It is a romantic idea to hike an hour, travel by boat, and then another hike to get to your retreat, but that is simply not safe. We have chosen a place that is far removed from civilization, but only a 35 minute drive from a modern hospital. We have never had to do that, but it's there just in case! We take safety seriously!

WHY ECUADOR INSTEAD OF PERU?
Shamans working in Ecuador must be certified, whereas in Peru anyone can call themselves a shaman. Ecuador has a safer practice concerning shamans and medicine.
CLOSE TO MODERN HOSPITAL
While it is a romantic idea to go deep into a jungle with walking and boats, the reality is that is not safe. If you ever have any issues, a modern hospital is only 30 minutes away from Gaia Sagrada and a driver and car is always on the property to drive you directly there if you should ever have a crisis. We have never had to drive anyone there, but we have chosen this place in the mountains on purpose for it's proximity to modern facilities should they be needed.
SAFE MEDICINE! YOU DETERMINE DOSE
No additives are combined with the medicines. For Ayahuasca, it's only the leaf and the vine. For San Pedro, only the cactus. Nothing else is added. We want you to meet the absolutely pure experience with these medicines.
Also, some centers dole out a certain amount of Ayahuasca and if you don't have an experience, too bad. We don't feel that is fair. Everyone's body needs different doses. We allow you to take however much Ayahuasca you need in order to have an experience. We don't let you overdo it, of course! If you can't walk up to the shaman and get it, well... ; )
STAINLESS STEEL INSTEAD OF ALUMINUM POTS
We have tried to think of everything! Most centers make their medicines in aluminum pots which are very toxic for cooking and for your body. We only use stainless steel, which is free of toxins. Our motto is safety first! Your health is our primary concern.
NON-PROFIT PRICES
Our retreat center is non-profit, which is rare, and our prices just cover expenses. We do not believe in getting rich with medicine, and even the directors make minimum wage in Ecuador. We are more concerned with awakening in humanity, so we have priced our retreats at the expenses level. You get a LOT for the price of this retreat, compared to other centers. You will also be supporting an organization which operates with integrity and compassion for the state of humanity and the world.
ALWAYS SOMEONE TO TALK TO
There is always someone to talk to on staff and our volunteer team if you need some personal help with processing your experience with the medicines. Some centers, you are pretty much on your own, but we take seriously the need for everyone to have whatever they need for the transformation they are experiencing.
SHAMANS PRESENT FOR ENTIRE CEREMONY
From beginning to end, and then some! They stay until the process is truly over. At many retreat centers, the shamans are only at the ceremony for a couple hours or so, give the medicine and sing a little, and then leave even while the medicine is still going strong. However, our shamans are with you from the beginning until the very end. It is important they are there through the whole ceremony for total support and there for you to connect with afterwards as well. It is important that ceremonies are closed correctly as well.
MANY SOBER HELPERS AT EVERY CEREMONY
This is very important for safety of the guests, to help you with all your needs every step of the way. Some centers don't have helpers at all, or if there are, they are taking medicine too. We take safety seriously so we have several helpers who don't take medicine when they are helpers at a ceremony. We do everything very responsibly.
MALE & FEMALE SHAMANS, SAFE FOR WOMEN
A woman runs Gaia Sagrada Retreat Center and has a particular interest in making sure Gaia Sagrada Retreats are safe for women as well as men. Male and female shamans are at Gaia Sagrada's ceremonies.
NO ONE EVER LEFT ALONE!
We have enough helpers that no one is ever left alone with the medicine, which is when problems can occur. We take your safety very seriously not just physically, but also emotionally, mentally and spiritually. You will always have whatever help you need, even if you have to be apart from the group for a heavy process. We are there for you always.
A DAY OF REST BETWEEN CEREMONIES
This is important so you have time to process the changes the medicine brings you. Some centers cram a lot of ceremonies back to back each day, but this is a disservice to participants because they become exhausted and are not able to process quickly enough what is happening. They also have to skip ceremonies they paid for because they simply become too exhausted.
We offer two more ceremonies in this span of days for those who CAN keep up with that kind of pace, but no one knows if they can keep up with that until they're here. We would rather not have people pay for ceremonies they are too exhausted to participate in, so we have made the extra ceremony optional and lowered the retreat price.

That brings us to the 2 extra ceremonies you can participate in during the retreat for an additional fee if you would like to work further with the medicine while you are here. 1 in the middle of the retreat and the other at the end if you stay one extra night!

Accommodation
We have private rooms, shared rooms and the most affordable are the dormitories (male and female separate). The rooms are comfortable, the housing is modern, and the showers are hot 24 hours a day 7 days a week! If you have a room with shared bathrooms (some private rooms have private bathrooms), there is never a wait because we have LOTS of bathrooms where you go in, lock the door behind you, and it's all yours!
The community center is where everyone hangs out to use the internet, talk, play music, read books, have snacks and tea, and just relax by the woodstove at night. Our kitchen gives you 3 vegetarian yummy meals per day!
You will sleep good because we bought the best mattresses in Ecuador! Unlike some centers that just give you a foam mat on plywood dressed up with some blankets, we made sure you can get a good night's sleep every night.
Each room has a desk, chair, shelves, dressers and a place to hang your clothes. The curtains are heavy and block the light if you want to sleep during the day (because perhaps you were in a night time ceremony the night before!) and lace curtains as well so you can open your window but no one can see you inside your room.
Don't forget, you also have access to our spa, with hot tubs and steam room! That's part of your housing benefits as well! Don't forget to try out our hammocks!
1 Bedroom House - (Single or Double Occupancy same price)
This is the best housing on the property! Price is for both people, click 2 in "Guests in Room" quantity if two people coming. Casa de Suenos (House of Dreams). It's artsy, classy, romantic, has all the modern utilities, and a private yard. Everything is close, yet you feel tucked away where you are on your own without any noise whatsoever to bother you. A beautiful kitchen, bathroom, living room (fireplace is decorative only), bedroom, dining area, and patios with yard areas will give you a little hideaway from the rest of the retreat where you can enjoy true privacy and relaxation. Queen bed in the bedroom, but there is a single twin bed in the living room that doubles as a huge couch with big pillows if you want to share the house with a friend and not share a bed with someone. Sign up as a couple anyway, since this is a "couples" double occupancy house only, but yes, you and a friend can share the house and not sleep in the same bed.

You can close the door behind you and lock it, it's all yours. It has a dressing area and the shower, roomy and big. The room itself is spacious and has everything you need to settle in and be comfortable with a desk, chair, a place to hang your clothes and shelves.
Private Room (Shared Bath)
Your own private room in Casa Tranquilo. Bathrooms are in the hallway. Beds are twin size, big and comfy, a REAL bed (not a foam mat that most centers have), table, chair, bookshelves, dresser and a living room you are welcome to hang out in if you like or sit on the front porch and enjoy the view!
Private Room - (Private Full Bath)
If you are looking for privacy but would like your own full bathroom (sink, toilet, and roomy shower right in your own room), this is the next step up from the private room with the half bathroom and two steps up from the private room with the shared bath.
