Meet Roos, our somatic, dance and yoga teacher and our social media manager.
‘After the completion of my bachelors in Dance Education, I’ve dedicated my research into analyzing the use of dance as a tool to unravel unconscious behaviors, fostering the direct integration and embodiment of new behaviors. My work revolves around finding a balance between free expression and analyzing our movements, ultimately creating a deeper understanding within ourselves. I believe that effecting change within one individual can create a ripple effect throughout the entire .
With my background in teaching, performing and creating, my main focus is offering movement as a tool to raise awareness and understanding. At the core of my approach lies a synthesis of Somatics, Performance, Psychosocial Aspects, and Improvisation. My aim extends beyond the creative space, integrating these principles into daily life and relationships. In classes, I foster curiosity, authenticity, and exploration, encouraging individuals to explore subconscious behaviors for collective awareness.
Empathy, kinesthetic awareness, and collective consciousness are the pillars of my methodology, promoting personal expression and equality. I view movement and art as gateways to individual and collective growth, creating spaces that encourage dialogue through artistic expression and movement.’

Misael is a profesional surfer, born and raised in Puerto Escondido. He is been surfing his whole life, he participates as a surf judge in tournaments and is a founder of Amisurf an organization thatt provides certification for surf instructors. He has teached surf for more than 10 years, outside of the water he is an environmentalist and elemtary school teacher.

‘Serving and sharing the teachings with compassion and from the heart is what inspires me every day, the most beautiful thing is learning from all those souls that connect in a single breath, in a posture, sharing the word and chanting a mantra, this is Yoga. I feel very grateful to be part of this prayer, of this awakening of consciousness, to be a channel to transmit and receive all these teachings and to be able to project light, peace, love and blessings for all beings in the Universe.’

Meet Jade, our beautiful manager and house soundhealer.
‘My musical journey started in 2008 amounting to a 15 year career as an international dj playing all of the world and sharing the stage with a number of top acts. My love for music is so vast that it naturally evolved into a passion for sound healing and live performance leading me to become an accredited sound healer. Sharing the magic power of musical frequencies is my biggest passion and love.
I am guided by the hangdrum as the key to the portal of vibration. Meanwhile I have extended my study of other healing instruments which enabled me to offer 1 to 1 vibrational massages and soundbaths and I has been blessed to receive ancient wisdom within ayahuasca ceremonies, hikuri, cacao, plant baths, temazcal and I’ve completed trainings in Breathwork and Ice Baths.

Surf lessons every other day

You can take up to three yoga classes per day, we offer different styles of yoga; If you feel like relaxing and stretching you can take a restorative yin, yin, but if you are feeling more dynamic we also offer ashtanga, power yoga and even power yoga on fridays !. Our teachers come from all over the world and will give you a nice yogui experience, our shala overlooks the ocean, perfect for connecting with yourself.
You will also get super active in the water with the surf lessons guided by Misael, a professional native Oaxacan surfer, he’s been teaching for more than ten years and he will take you to the best beach for your surfing level, don’t worry if you never surfed before, he is nice, funny and attentive to your needs.
Barbarenas is an eco-sustainable place that feels like a hidden oasis, its warmth and love of mother nature will embrace you through this time of self enrichment, yoga, surfing and healthy nutritious vegan food.
Keep in mind that for this little paradise you will need bug spray as well as cash MXN (we are still a little beautiful town with few ATMS around ) . Also we are expanding, so during your stay you may hear some construction noise but it shouldn’t interfere with your tranquility.
