Details of this retreat

Some "live to eat" while others "eat to live", but regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, do you consider the experience of nourishing our bodies routine or ritual? In a society where food waste is exponential, the convenience of one-time-use packaging, containers, and utensils is rarely considered, and the majority of what we eat from the grocery store is not locally or responsibly sourced; let us begin the ecological conversation to raise awareness and work towards justice for all of creation impacted by Factory Farming and an industrial food web.

Join us as we work our way through Dr. James Robinson's Beyond Factory Farming: A Contemplative-Prophetic Approach to Food throughout the summer months, when regionally, fresh and local goods are plentiful. We invite you to reflect on your willingness to question ethical sources of animal products or consider a commitment to a plant-based diet. We will challenge society's routine practices deeply rooted in consumerism and discuss the harmful consequences of prioritizing convenience over health and dignity.

In this opportunity to connect with the global Meatless Monday movement, we will reflect on one of the five parts of the book and engage in resource-sharing discussions. Each session will be an opportunity to submit a new or favorite recipe to the group and together create a menu for the Farm-to-Table style Luncheon that will conclude this program.

Dr. Robinson will join us on Saturday, August 7, 2027, to discuss Beyond Factory Farming from conception to publication, answer questions, and share his own reflections and methods for transforming the routine of eating into a ritual of gratitude and reciprocity.

The experience was amazing
Very informative and relaxing and a beautiful space. Our leader was so kind and knowledgeable. The food was also really good and I met some wonderful women. It would be wonderful to have this session every season of the year. Maybe not winter..
I look forward to attending other retreats and workshops at Genesis. Many thanks for all you do.

Filled with healing vibes
I love being at Genesis. This was my second time visiting. On my previous visit, I participated in a nature immersion retreat that lasted several days. I bonded with the land, the trees, and the labyrinth. When I saw that there was an opportunity to attend a day retreat, I was eager to sign up. It isn't always possible for me to devote the time to a multi-day overnight retreat, but I love spending time with other like-minded people on the land and in the indoor spaces. Everything feels so friendly and peaceful, and the food is delicious. I enjoyed reconnecting with the labyrinth and having a collective moment of contemplation. I will surely continue to return to Genesis when I can. I always come away feeling renewed, inspired, and knowing that I am on my healing journey.

BioSpiritual Focusing Retreat 8/26
I received so many gifts of new knowledge and experiences from all 4 instructors and many participants. As always I enjoyed all of the outdoor spaces, especially the labyrinth. I truly appreciate the space that was freely available in the chapel, carriage house and friendship hall for myself and others to offer optional groups.
