About this Retreat

Details of this retreat

Not every journey asks us to go further. Some invite us to arrive.

At the gateway to the Colombian Amazon, the landscape around Mocoa is shaped by tropical forest, rivers, waterfalls and paths that ask us to slow down. This eleven-day journey was created as an invitation to step out of the speed of daily life and rediscover a more attentive way of travelling — one rooted in presence, relationship and direct contact with the living world.

This is not a conventional sightseeing tour. It is also not an ayahuasca or yagé retreat. No ayahuasca or yagé ceremonies are included.

The experience has grown from relationships built by Virginie and Casa Oraya over time with people who live in and care for this territory. Rather than moving quickly from one attraction to another, we will spend time with local hosts, walk through the forest, enter the rivers, share meals, discover the chagra, encounter the worlds of cacao and bees, and allow each experience to settle before moving on.

We will stay in a small butterfly reserve near Fin del Mundo, surrounded by tropical vegetation. There is no Wi-Fi and phone signal is very limited. The accommodation is simple and shared. This is not a luxury resort: humidity, rain, insects, natural sounds and changing weather are part of life here. The reserve is reached on foot, so participants need to travel with a backpack rather than a large wheeled suitcase.

Two jungle immersions with Christian will take us through rivers, forest paths and waterfalls. Lorena will guide a temazcal and a traditional tobacco ritual. We will spend two days at Maíma, meeting the women of the community and discovering the chagra. Other encounters will bring us closer to cacao, bees, permaculture, local family knowledge and the everyday life of Putumayo.

Each morning begins with meditation. Throughout the journey there will also be space for conscious breathing, writing, creative practices, group sharing, rest and individual conversations. These moments are not designed to interpret the experience for you. They offer practical ways to listen, reflect and allow what you are living to find its own meaning.

At Casa Oraya, integration does not only belong to plant-medicine experiences. Any meaningful journey can stir emotions, questions and new perceptions. Our role is to create enough space, structure and human presence for participants to remain connected to themselves while meeting a territory that may be very different from their everyday environment.

This journey is for people who are curious, respectful and willing to meet nature as more than a backdrop. A moderate level of physical fitness is necessary. Some days include walking on uneven or slippery paths, humidity, heat, river crossings and changing weather conditions.

You do not need previous retreat experience. You do need flexibility, respect for local rhythms and a willingness to live simply for a few days.

The group is limited to ten participants and the journey is accompanied in English, French and Spanish.
