About this Retreat
Corey Martin is a Yale-trained family physician driven to change the delivery of healthcare and improve the mental and physical health of our communities. He is a founder of
Innovations in Resilience and the
Bounce Back Project, a practicing private group physician, Bush Fellow, and a consultant to many healthcare and educational organizations in their response to clinician burnout. Driven to do this work by the loss of two colleagues and friends, Corey strives to create an environment of opportunity in which all of us can do the deep, heartfelt work of changing the way we show up and interact in each other’s lives.
One of the ways he does this is by facilitating resilience retreats across the United States and throughout the world. He is both a Certified Daring Way Facilitator and Center for Courage & Renewal Facilitator and facilitates workshops based on the work of Brené Brown and Parker Palmer. In his free time, he enjoys working on his farm which he has recently turned into an event center. He lives in Maple Lake, MN with his three daughters. He is a recovering perfectionist and an aspiring “good enoughist”.
Andrea Tatley partners with individuals and teams through times of transition and challenge by creating spaces where they can safely reconnect with themselves—restoring clarity, resilience, and meaning in demanding environments. Her background is in palliative care and spiritual care, and she has spent many years serving on interdisciplinary teams at large metro hospitals, supporting patients, families, and staff through serious illness, grief, and transition.
She integrates contemplative spiritual practices with insights from neuroscience to support resilience and meaningful change. She also brings extensive experience in resilience, well-being, and relational support in healthcare and group settings, with a focus on fostering sustainable self-care and meaningful connection. Andrea’s work is deeply influenced by her exploration of the intersection of nature, spirituality, and healing. She is a writer and speaker who frequently engages themes of presence, grief, and the human connection to the natural world. She is the founder of Transformare, a body of work exploring human resilience through nature, spirituality, and lived experience.
Photography, nature, travel, and gardening are among Andrea’s passions, each offering a different way of seeing and engaging with the world.

Iceland Winter Retreat: Exploring the Art of Relationships under the Northern Lights
In the dark season of the north, light appears in unexpected ways. Sometimes in the sky, sometimes in the warmth of human connection. This Valentine’s weekend, step into a cozy Icelandic winter retreat designed to renew, deepen, and celebrate the relationships in your life—whether with a partner, a friend, or yourself.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Iceland’s snowy landscapes, black sand beaches, waterfalls, and geothermal lagoons, this retreat invites both connection and reflection. Iceland in winter has a way of slowing us down. The quiet of snow, the warmth of geothermal waters, and the vast northern sky create space to listen more deeply—to ourselves, to one another, and to the relationships that shape our lives.
Imagine soaking in the Blue Lagoon or Sky Lagoon as the Northern Lights shimmer overhead, journaling in warm and inviting hotel spaces, and sharing meaningful conversations with an extraordinary group of people.
Together we will create a rhythm that balances guided learning, shared exploration, and spacious time for reflection and renewal.
This retreat offers the perfect balance of educational sessions, Icelandic adventures, and restorative moments of stillness.

SCHEDULE
Day 1: Welcoming, Setting Intentions, and Icelandic Discovery (February 10)
Your adventure begins as you arrive in Iceland’s crisp winter morning. After collecting your luggage and renting vans, we’ll transfer to our hotel in Reykjavik, where the warm glow of cozy interiors and the aroma of fresh Icelandic coffee await.
Our opening session brings the group together to set intentions for the retreat. Through reflective exercises and heart-centered conversation, we’ll create a safe, supportive space for exploration, vulnerability, and connection. This is your time to pause, breathe, and open to the relationships in your life—those you nurture and those you wish to deepen.
In the afternoon, take a moment to settle in, explore the city’s charming streets, or rest after your journey. Later, we’ll wander together on a walking tour of Reykjavik’s colorful architecture and lively public spaces, discovering cafés, local art, and hidden gems. Our first group dinner introduces you to Icelandic flavors and sets the tone for shared meals, stories, and connection.
Day 2: Courage, Connection, and Blue Lagoon Renewal (February 11)
Begin the day with a nourishing breakfast as you watch the pale winter sunlight stretch across the city. Morning sessions focus on courageous communication, vulnerability, and mindful listening, drawing on the work of Brené Brown, Parker Palmer, and leading relationship researchers. You’ll engage in guided exercises and small-group conversations designed to illuminate your patterns, strengths, and opportunities for growth in your relationships.
After lunch, optional excursions take you to the Blue Lagoon, where geothermal waters offer warmth and renewal in contrast to the crisp Icelandic air. Immerse yourself in the milky-blue waters, breathe deeply, and let the natural environment support reflection and relaxation.
Evening brings a gentle Northern Lights walk. Under the vast winter sky, we’ll practice presence and shared reflection, using the aurora as a mirror for the light that appears in our connections with others.
Day 3: Nature’s Majesty and Heart-Centered Reflection (February 12)
After breakfast, we gather for a morning session centered on emotional intelligence, intimacy, and the art of sustaining meaningful relationships. Through exercises in listening and presence, participants will explore how to create trust, open dialogue, and connection in daily life.
The afternoon is a full Icelandic adventure: travel to majestic waterfalls, wander along black sand beaches, and enjoy a scenic, reflective lunch along the way. The stark winter landscape becomes a canvas for noticing patterns in your own life—moments of resilience, courage, and connection.
As night falls, we’ll gather for dinner back at the hotel, then step outside once more in search of the Northern Lights. The stillness of the Icelandic night invites gentle reflection, gratitude, and wonder.
Day 4: Reflection, Connection, and the Sky Lagoon under the Northern Lights (February 13)
Our morning sessions focus on applying the insights from the retreat—deepening your connection with yourself, fostering intimacy with others, and exploring ways to bring reflection and presence into daily life. We’ll look at boundaries, communication, and how we show up in our relationships, creating tools you can carry home.
In the afternoon, enjoy some free time to explore Reykjavik at your own pace or visit its museums and cultural spaces. Later, we’ll journey together to the Sky Lagoon for an unforgettable geothermal experience. Immerse yourself in the warm, mineral-rich waters while gazing across the bay, and allow the Icelandic winter sky to support your reflection. The Lagoon’s Spa Circuit, sauna, and relaxation areas provide the perfect opportunity to unwind fully.
We’ll share a meal at the Sky Lagoon and have time to sip beverages in the main lagoon, soaking in the warmth as we wait for the Northern Lights to appear. As the aurora shimmers overhead, we’ll reflect on how our own inner light can illuminate our relationships, empathy, and connection with the world around us.
Day 5: Integration, Gratitude, and Carrying the Light Forward (February 14)
Our final morning begins with breakfast, followed by a closing session centered on reflection, insight, and next steps for nurturing the relationships in your life. We’ll celebrate growth, share final reflections, and create a plan for integrating the retreat’s lessons into daily life.
The remainder of the day offers free time to explore Reykjavik one last time, journal, or simply savor the winter ambiance before departing for the airport. As you leave Iceland’s landscapes behind, you’ll carry renewed perspective, practical tools, and a deeper sense of connection to yourself, your loved ones, and the world around you.
