About this Retreat
Taita Uauakallarij is a traditional indigenous healer from the Inga people of the Sibundoy Valley, in the Putumayo Department of the Colombian Amazon.
A visual artist with a Master of Fine Arts from the Antonio Nariño University, he was born in Manoy Santiago, in the Sibundoy Valley (Putumayo).
As a Taita, Sinchi, or traditional Inga healer, he has been initiated into the culture of Ayahuasca and the medicinal and ritual use of other plants from the intertropical vertical garden. His journey begins in the Amazon forests, passes through the tropical rainforest of the Putumayo foothills, and reaches the savannas and Andean páramos of the Colombian Massif.
He is the heir to ancestral knowledge and ritual practices thanks to the teachings of his father, Taita Antonio Jacanamijoy, a respected authority and Inga healer among his people and other indigenous groups.
His Western knowledge encompasses botany, medicine, pharmacology, religion, and geography. He ensures the health of individuals, communities, and territories within the traditional and ancestral cultures of the Americas.
