About this Retreat

Schedule

Day 1
Arrival and Presentations – Guests are picked up from the Airport Hotel in an air-conditioned Mercedes Sprinter bus and arrive in the early afternoon at Eleusinia’s private 100-acre retreat center, located in the picturesque lakeside community of Valle de Bravo, Mexico, often referred to as the "Hamptons of Mexico City." Upon arrival, guests are welcomed by the retreat team, which includes facilitators, medical professionals, and support staff. They are given time to settle in and connect with other attendees while enjoying snacks and refreshments. Each guest will have an initial one-on-one medical intake with a member of Eleusinia’s medical team, as well as an opportunity to meet individually with Eleusinia’s Curandera, a traditional Mexican mushroom practitioner, who offers a spiritual cleansing and blessing for their journey. Guests will also receive a tour of the Eleusinia grounds to become familiar with the surroundings.

In the late afternoon, presentations cover the neuroscience of psychedelics, preparation for the upcoming macrodose, Eleusinia’s approach to "intention setting," and a formal introduction to the Eleusinia team. This is followed by an intimate group dinner on our veranda, prepared by our gourmet chef.

Day 2
The morning begins with a follow-up presentation on navigating a psychedelic journey, alongside a discussion of the tools and techniques we use to support our guests throughout their experience. Guests are further introduced to the thoughtfully curated garden spaces, designed specifically to enrich their journey. Eleusinia’s breathwork and meditation coach leads them through a series of exercises in preparation for the macrodose.

The session begins as a group in our meditation structure, affectionately called "The Nest," and soon transitions to a more personal experience across our expansive gardens and private alcoves. Each area features carefully curated stations designed to deepen the journey, offering options like relaxing in a hammock, cozy cocoon-like seating, or lounging in spacious living rooms with floor-to-ceiling views. Every setting is meticulously crafted to provide a unique and exploratory environment, all under the attentive care of our facilitators (1:2 ratio). These spaces integrate neuroscience-based tools and techniques to assist in navigating the psychedelic journey, which lasts approximately 4-6 hours.

Evenings are spent unwinding by the fire, providing a space for reflection, journaling, or engaging in informal conversations with team members and fellow guests about their experiences.

Day 3
Day 3 is focused on DMT, integration, meditation classes, and massage. It’s a full day at Eleusinia. Each guest participates in individual DMT sessions after the group breakfast, supported by Eleusinia’s facilitators, with a ratio of two facilitators per guest. After lunch, small group classes in breathwork, mindfulness, and TRE (Trauma Release Exercises) are led by our breathwork and meditation coach, along with one-on-one integration sessions with either our psychotherapist or a specialist trained in psychedelic integration.

The afternoon includes a massage session followed by our Mushroom Cultivation Course Part #1 and a lively group dinner. Each guest receives a personalized schedule, with breaks interspersed to allow time for socializing with other guests, resting, or exploring the grounds. Guests also have the option to record their individual integration sessions for sharing with family members or therapists back home.

Day 4
After breakfast, one-on-one integration meetings with our curandera are available for those seeking a cultural and spiritual perspective. Small group classes on Tension Release Exercises (TRE) and other somatic movement techniques are led by our mind and body coach. After lunch, guests receive a one-hour hot stone massage to further enhance relaxation.

The day also includes small group mindfulness hikes on our grounds and, during mushroom season, guided mushroom hunting trips through our forest. In the evening, we continue with the second part of our mushroom cultivation class, concluding the day with a relaxed group dinner.

Excursions, such as paragliding or trips to town, as well as additional massage sessions, can also be scheduled on this day, offering guests an opportunity to further customize their experience with activities that align with their personal preferences for relaxation or adventure.

Day 5
On day 5, guests embark on their second psilocybin macrodose of the retreat. The insights and experiences from the first macrodose are carefully reviewed to fine-tune the dosing and provide any necessary additional support. The medical team consults with each guest to discuss the sensations they experienced during the initial dose and make adjustments to the dosing plan or comfort measures, such as managing nausea or other factors. The session itself follows a similar structure to the first macrodose, unfolding within our expansive gardens.

Before the session, we revisit the techniques used to navigate the psychedelic experience, evaluating which methods were most impactful for each guest during their first journey. The evening after the macrodose is reserved for relaxation and recovery, giving guests the space to reflect on their experience and rest.

Day 6
For guests who have opted for the class, day 6 begins with an early morning DMT extraction workshop. Later, the group breakfast includes a creative writing exercise designed to compliment the psychedelic integration process. After breakfast, class participants enjoy some leisurely time in the garden, exploring individual DMT sessions to further develop their navigation techniques.
In preparation for the minidose, there is a meditation session that incorporates Wim Hof breathing techniques and other practices aimed at enhancing the psychedelic experience. The minidose session begins with a cold plunge to boost endorphin and norepinephrine levels, preparing participants for the deeply meditative state of the minidose. Immediately after the cold plunge, we start the minidose, spending the rest of the afternoon in deep psychedelic meditation exploring the garden or relaxing by the fire.

Dinner following the minidose is a lively event, featuring psychedelic trivia to reinforce the knowledge gained throughout the retreat.

For those that have opted out of the extraction class, this day is the perfect opportunity to explore the local attractions such as paragliding, visiting town, or visiting the nearby monarch butterfly sanctuary.

Day 7
Day 7 begins early with the second part of the DMT extraction workshop. After breakfast, guests have the opportunity to participate in their second, more personalized DMT session, with each participant selecting their own setting. Many choose to revisit their favorite spots in the garden for a more intimate and tailored experience.

In the afternoon, guests take part in a Temazcal ceremony, a traditional sweat lodge ritual involving heated lava rocks and herbal steam.

The evening concludes with a closing gathering, featuring a cacao ceremony, providing a reflective and ceremonial closure to the day and the retreat experience.

Day 8
Day 8 begins with a group breakfast and an optional poetry reading for those who wish to share their writings from the retreat. Before departures, we take our signature "backs only" group photo to commemorate the experience while respecting the privacy of all guests. Afterward, the bus will transport guests back to Mexico City to catch their flights home.

Just amazing
I concur with what everyone else has said about their experience at Eleusinia. The caring and supportive staff, beautiful accommodations and grounds, delicious food, the tools you are given to be successful at continuing the journey that brought you to Eleusinia and the bonding that goes on between participants and staff are unforgettable.

One thing I learned is that if you come with an expectation of what you will experience or what will come up, toss that out the window because you cannot predict it. Nothing came up that I thought would, things that needed to come up did.

It was clear that everyone had a different and life-changing experience. After we took the macrodose, which we did in an area called “the nest”, we were encouraged to leave it once we felt any effects and go to the beautiful area outside of the nest and let the medicine start working. Not exactly sure what happened in my case. I had the most healing experience of my entire life that changed my outlook completely but I never left the nest. I tried, but I just couldn’t, because I felt so safe there. I was never left alone. Someone was always right there by my side. I was surprised that I did not have any visual
or auditory experiences, but instead I cried for about 6-7 hours. Although I cannot remember every single thing, I can remember many things that I have been holding on to for years that I didn’t realize I was. The person I am today is a person I have never known my whole life. I’ve endured many traumas since childhood and well into adulthood and they impacted every aspect of my life. Somehow I got lucky and finally had everything I could ask for like a loving and supportive husband and children, in addition to a very comfortable life, but I couldn’t appreciate it because I didn’t know how to. Now I do. My family is not entirely sure how to take all this in quite yet, although they are very happy. Previously, their actions revolved around what my mood was each day, and now they can breathe. It’s a process, but a good one. I am very fortunate to have the support of my family as well as my doctor, who actually encouraged me to come, and he and I will be working on a plan for me to wean off many of the medications I’ve been on for years that never seemed to help me live a somewhat normal life anyway.

Every single staff member at Eleusinia was patient, comforting, and supportive. It was like being in a cocoon the entire stay.

While visiting Eleusinia is not going to solve all of your problems, it certainly will give you a jumpstart of putting you in the right mindset to help reverse self-destructive thoughts or negative behaviors so that you can continue to work on being the best person you can be. We will never be without problems, because well, life. However, I have found with this wonderful medicine that I can navigate life better, and when struggles come up, I can cope with them more effectively than I ever could before. At least this has been my experience.

I cannot thank the staff at Eleusinia enough. Everyone was absolutely wonderful. I will be forever grateful to Jessica, Jay, Josefina, Tawnya, Karen, Roger, Madai, and a most special shout out to Emilio.

The housekeeping and kitchen staff, as well as the masseuse, also make the experience just perfect. I hope I’m not forgetting anyone. Every need is taken care of.

I will also never forget the nine other wonderful people I went through this experience with.

One participant told me something that I won’t forget and really summed up my experience. He said when I arrived, I looked like I was holding my breath for a very long time and that by the end I looked so relaxed and peaceful. I did not notice it physically, but I definitely felt it emotionally.

Thank you again to the Eleusinia staff, and I will be returning next year!

Eleusinia Retreat was the Best Investment I've Ever Made.
I was going through life feeling as though enjoyment was simply not a part of it. Despite having expectations of how I should feel, I rarely experienced any positive emotions, even in moments when I knew I should have. I had reasoned with my past traumatic experiences enough to function day to day, build a family, and even run a successful business, but I always felt like I was carrying an unnecessary burden—as if something bad could happen at any moment.

Eleusinia caught my attention because of its science-based approach. The location is stunning, the preparation was thorough, and the team is warm and helpful—nothing about the experience felt strange or off. I was initially skeptical about the vegetarian meals, but the food was fantastic! The therapy itself, despite my doubts, was mind-blowing. It required a lot of work and processing, but the concept of “shuffling the deck” to help your brain update old models of perception and release unnecessary past burdens made perfect sense.

I feel lighter, joyful again, more present in the moment, and much more attentive to the world around me rather than being stuck in my own head. Don't hesitate—Eleusinia will change your life for the better!

Beautiful and transformational
It's been less than a month since I returned home from Eleusinia and I am already wanting to go back. I spent a night on each end of the retreat in a hotel in Mexico City because I was unable to arrive and depart along the van departure schedule. That worked out fine and I felt safe, even as a woman traveling alone in Mexico. The van ride was uneventful and easy and gave the guests time to begin connecting and getting to know each other a little bit. From the moment the staff greeted us upon arrival until the moment we left with heartfelt tears and hugs, I have never felt more cared for in my life. The Macro dose was more intense than I expected, I expected a sense of unfolding and instead found myself unraveling which was frightening at first. Once I let go and released control, the changes in my brain were and still are powerful. My DMT experience was so healing and the highlight of the retreat. While there are three, sometimes four different psychedelic experiences during the five day retreat, the breathwork, integration, classes, massages, time spent reflecting and talking to the staff and other guests was equally as important as the medicines. The staff were diverse but every single one of them provided a level of authentic loving care that was unexpected and delightful. Josephina, Tawnya, and Emilio were incredibly present and devoted to providing each guest with the healing they needed. Jessica and Jay (the owners) kept everyone focused on the neuroscience behind these medicines, teaching and preparing us for how they can heal each quest physically and spiritually. I particularly enjoyed the freedom to share as much as each of us wanted to share, there were no circles where each person was required to speak about why they were there. The bonds we built over the five days were organic and unforced. With a doctor, a nurse, and a psychologist on site I felt physically and psychologically safe at every moment. Honestly, every single moment of the experience was perfectly curated, even the availability of anti-nausea medicines. The food was delicious, I never felt I needed to ask for a snack because there was something yummy every moment. The first morning there was a spread of fruit, yogurt, and baked goods sitting out and I mistakenly thought that was breakfast and gobbled it up only to discover those were simply the pre-breakfast goodies and a homemade egg extravaganza was coming soon. Each night, after a long day, I would return to my room to find a beautiful fire had been built in my fireplace and my bed had been turned down for me. Lastly, the grounds were magical, one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. During the mini-dose on the last day, we had a rainstorm that lasted a couple of hours and I will never forgot lying in the nest watching the rain fall while covered in blankets with a roaring fire behind me. OH AND THE GUACAMOLE...IYKYK. If you are looking for a psychedelic retreat, I can't imagine a better one than Eleusinia.

Experience of a lifetime
This retreat is an experience of a lifetime. What makes it unique is the empowerment it provides to guests, the knowledge it imparts about the science of psychedelics, and the caring loving container that is formed by all of the Eleucinia staff. My only disappointment is that I waited so long to come here as I am 78 years old.

There aren't enough superlatives in human language.....
Taking a hero’s dose of mushrooms is a daunting prospect, and I wouldn’t have wanted to do that anywhere other than Eleusinia. It seems that every detail was masterfully well-planned. There are many opportunities to change your experience and scenery from VR goggles to headphones to a variety of comfy places to sit or lie down including a… I don’t remember what they called it, but I called it a bat cave – a dark, cool, terra cotta igloo-type structure. From the founder to the lovely gentleman who lit a fire in my fireplace every night, the entire staff was filled with compassion, experience, and knowledge. I felt entirely safe and well-tended to.

At every meal, I felt as if I were dining in a 5-star vegetarian restaurant. The 100-acre grounds were so beautiful.

Even though one of their goals is to educate and equip you so fully that you need not return, I will likely return as many others have, hopefully with friends and family in tow.
