Misfit Mountain Wilderness retreats are personal development experiences where you can spend time in a natural, remote setting and experience a range of outdoor activities like hiking, running, biking, camping, and foraging. We invite you to disconnect from daily life, reconnect with nature, and foster personal reflection and growth.
Retreat guests may pick and choose which activities they'd like to experience. We will accommodate all levels of fitness. At a minimum, participants should be comfortable with a 3-5 mile hike on unstable terrain.
Hiking: hikes will range from 1 mile to 5-6 miles, with the option of a longer, more strenuous hike to the top of the 10,000 ft summit of Haleakalā.
Running: if participants prefer running, all levels and distances are available and can be accommodated.
Biking: ride along Maui's north shore and experience all the views! Approximate distance is 10 miles.
Surfing: entry-level introduction to surfing will be available to those interested.
Cultural education, foraging and survival skills will be offered for all as well!
What makes this retreat unique?
This is a Hawaiian adventure that you'll find no place else. Our own guide Jennie is a Maui native who is excited to welcome us to her home island. With her help, we will experience Maui in a way that few others get to! Three of your guides (Lauren, Jennie and Heather) are survivalists who appeared together on Discovery Channel's Naked and Afraid in the African outback. We can't wait to bring you all of our knowledge and experience to guide you on the adventure of a lifetime in Maui!
