A wonderful experience at Pschonauta
The staff are fantastic, Mundo the leader along Pablo and Karin help to cultivate a really friendly atmosphere where people can relax and be themselves and not have to worry about judgement. The people within our group were from all over the world, of all walks of life and varied from young to old and we had a thoroughly enjoyable time getting to know eachother. Conversations ranged from the nonsensical to the philosophical and I am glad to say I have made friends for life through this trip and we are already planning various meet ups in different countries in the future.
A huge shoutout to the chefs of the camp I would never have said I enjoy eating vegetarian food but it was delicious. The fresh fruit and bread a real highlight of the trip. I plagued the ladies for some recipes before leaving.
I would emphasise reading what each plan entails as I initially booked the Dieta process and once realising my mistake I changed to the open retreat instead. Thank you to Mundo for allowing this no questions asked and it really made my retreat thoroughly enjoyable. Depending on which one you choose your experience is quite different we were able to have movie nights, excursions to the Amazon and could spend time in the epic pool that flows with a local stream.
Before getting onto the Ayahuasca process I would like to highlight how beneficial I found just being in the jungle, without my phone without worrying about the outside world and being able to just relax for a while truly felt. If I did these ten days without the ayahuasca I would honestly have come out with a different perspective on things particularly my use of my phone and how I should enjoy the ordinary. Phones are allowed and parts of the camp have internet to use but I would recommend anyone who is going on retreat to give it a break for a few days and reap the benefits.
To the main event, the ayahuasca ceremonies: the Maloka (temple) is amazing, with comfortable beds and space for yourself. Mundo is excellent at explaining ayahuasca its abilities and what can happen throughout your time and this is gained from his long time experience with the plant. Between him and his 2 Shaman’s you can feel you are in safe hands even if you are nervous to begin with. I had intentions for the retreat and discussed them with Mundo and he was brilliant in helping me focus on things and figure out what was important for my time there. I was extremely fortunate that I gained insight into my intentions each night and marvelled at the wonders of the medicine what it can show you and being honest I had a really really fun time taking ayahuasca so I am certainly grateful to have made the decision to do this retreat.
This retreat was part of a 3 month trip of South America for me and is unquestionably the highlight of the trip. I’ve made great friends, seen the Amazon, lived in the jungle and gained some eye opening insights into life and what’s important to me. I know of others I met along my travels who went to different ayahuasca retreats in Peru and judging from there experiences they didn’t seem to have the same holistic approach as we were blessed to have in Psychonauta.
All in All I would give this retreat a 10/10 from the facilities, the staff, the care and the hospitality we were shown and most of all the people I met I will never forget this experience, I am extremely grateful to all who made it possible and some time in the future I will return again.
