Bovenga Na Muduma

Bovenga has been program director at Oka Center since 2009. His first encounter with ibogaine in 2006 resulted in the cessation of 17 years of hard alcoholism and he has been devoted to the plant since. Robert was a presenter at the first Ibogaine conference in Sayulita Mexico in 2009, then again in the 2012 Vancouver conference. In  2009 and 2010 he split his time between doing NYC underground ibogaine treatments with Dimitri Mugianis and attending Bwiti ceremonies in Gabon, where he learned traditional methods of administration and setting for iboga experiences and earned the Bwiti name Bovenga Na Muduma. Bovenga particularly trained in Music, iboga administration, spiritual baths and songs and chants performed during ceremony. He struggled with the DEA and in 2011 and was prosecuted for ibogaine possession within the United States. Practicing in Costa Rica from 2012-2016, he is the innovator behind the unique Oka Center ceremonial protocols now offered at a 19th Century hacienda in Yucatán Mexico. He has conducted nearly 1000 safe iboga ceremonies.
