About the Teacher

Why study with them?

Mimi began her yoga journey at a very young age when her mother taught her sun salutations as a form of greeting each new day and welcoming the day ahead. She practiced asanas regularly after learning the sequences and has been doing so for over 20 years. Eventually, she came to learn about Bhakti yoga through her husband, much later in life. Her journey led her to train to become a yoga teacher; initially earning her 200 hour teacher certification in Hatha Yoga at Pachamama in Costa Rica, and then, more recently earning her 300 hour teacher certification in Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga at Rishikesh Yog Peeth, India.Mimi has been teaching one-on-one private yoga lessons and group public yoga classes for four years in Atlanta, Georgia. She also teaches anatomy & physiology of yoga, asana, and Pranayama at Rishikesh Yog Peeth in Rishikesh, India, during teacher training courses. In addition to yoga, Mimi occasionally incorporates Tai Chi exercises into flow classes, drawing upon her upbringing in South Shaolin Goju Kung Fu. Mimi has her doctorate of naturology and a Ph.D. from American Institute of Holistic Theology in Birmingham, Alabama (USA); a bachelors degree in biochemistry from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She also studied microimmunobiology at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and microbiology / immunology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
