About the Teacher
Why study with them?
Laila Lanssari, also known as Laila Kandila, is a multidisciplinary dancer, teacher, and retreat facilitator with over 23 years of dance experience. Rooted in Moroccan heritage and shaped by a nomadic spirit, her work bridges fusion belly dance, flow arts, and ritual movement as pathways for connection, healing, and cultural exchange.
For Laila, dance has never been only about technique—it is a living practice that supports balance, resilience, and inner clarity. Throughout her life journey, movement has been a way to reconnect with the body, regulate the nervous system, and return to presence. Dance became both an anchor and a compass, guiding her through transformation while remaining deeply grounded in joy, beauty, and embodiment.
Her artistic path began with belly dance and naturally evolved into fusion styles that reflect her lifestyle and curiosity. Over time, she expanded into hulahoop, fans, fire, and circus arts, using props as extensions of storytelling and energetic flow. Her performances and teachings invite playfulness, strength, and authenticity, always honoring the connection between body, mind, and spirit.
Entirely self-taught and shaped by lived experience, Laila has studied with a wide range of international teachers through workshops, festivals, and online study. Travel remains an essential part of her learning, allowing her to continuously deepen her practice and refine her artistic voice.
In 2022, she founded a fusion belly dance and circus school in Ghent, creating a space where dance, flow arts, creativity, and community come together. Her retreats and gatherings are an extension of this vision—offering women a space to slow down, reconnect with ancestral wisdom, and explore movement as a form of healing, expression, and shared ritual.
Guided by passion and perseverance, Laila continues to evolve as both artist and teacher. Through dance, she invites others to reconnect with their inner power, trust their creative path, and remember that growth, balance, and embodiment are lifelong journeys.
