Pete Szak

Pete Szak is the head chef at Casa Portal Retreats, where food serves as the heart of daily life on the farm. With Hungarian roots, trained in London, and years spent cooking and living in places like India and Bali, Pete brings a deeply intuitive, seasonal approach to meals—using food as the container that makes a shared space feel like home. He manages the gardens at Casa Portal, with herbs and veggies that make it to our dishes seasonly, along with curating local meats, breads, deserts, and vegetables from local CSAs and bakers. He also keeps bees on the land, something he used to do on his grandmother's farm in Hungary.
