About the Teacher
Why study with them?
Roey, the visionary founder of Vikara Retreat Center, has been on a transformative path of healing and self-discovery for over a decade. His journey began in 2006 when he volunteered at the Tamara Healing Center in Portugal. Following this, he moved to the USA to study the Curative Education course at the Camphill Community in Beaver Run, where he worked with children and adults with special needs. It was during this time that he discovered the profound potential of alternative therapies and the importance of connecting with the spiritual world.
Roey traveled extensively to learn from a variety of teachers and traditions, immersing himself in the sacred practices of indigenous cultures.
Before embracing plant medicine, Roey practiced yoga for over 7 years, starting with Ashtanga Yoga, which laid the foundation for his discipline. He completed his 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Ecuador, where he deepened both his practice and his understanding of yoga’s transformative power.
Roey has also undertaken four vision quests in Ecuador under the supervision of Taita Alejo Valdivieso, a revered indigenous elder, where he received the blessings to lead sweatlodges, and has been since parying and guiding the Temazcal ceremonies in Vikara.
With over 13 years of experience in the therapeutic world, Roey has a deep understanding of healing modalities, which he integrates into the offerings at Vikara. In 2020, Roey founded Vikara Retreat Center.
The mission at Vikara is to provide a sacred space for transformational retreats, guided by dignity and integrity. We offer a variety of retreats that focus on holistic well-being, fostering a deep connection between body, mind, and spirit, and encouraging profound introspection.
In addition, we collaborate with retreat leaders from around the globe, welcoming them to host their unique programs in our beautiful and nurturing environment.
