About this Retreat
Hi! I'm Brian, I'm 26 years old and I'm from Cali. Apart from growing up with Latin music, I've always been inspired by Michael Jackson. His moves, footwork and energy have always inspired me to become a better dancer.
Apart from Salsa, which I'm born with coming from Cali in Colombia, I am a regional champion in Bachata and dance Hiphop as well. Dancing is something I don't do for anyone else, it's me expressing myself and enjoying myself, it's about feeling the music and connecting with my partner. That's something I try to translate in my classes, dare to mix your styles, dare to show yourself and build that confidence to connect. Connect with your partner, your audience, the place you're dancing, the music but above all connect with yourself.
Hi! I'm Laura and I'm from Cali, Colombia. I'm a seasoned Salsa dancer and regional champion but above that I'm also incredibly passionate about Bachata.
In a city that lives and breathes Salsa, that's remarkable. That's why people recognize me as "Laura, la Bachatera" and I love it. I love how social dancing brings people together and how Bachata sets your inner sensuality free. I live and breathe my Latin culture and love performing on stage, but I also have a big heart for teaching. I love transferring this passion to my students.
Whatever style of salsa or bachata you prefer to learn, I'm here for you to help you shine.
Hi! I'm Sebastian, I'm 25 years old and I'm from Cali. Cali is known to be the birth city of salsa, not just in Colombia but in Latin America. Why? Because we grow up with salsa.
From dancing salsa on the street, to dancing at family gatherings or in local clubs. In Cali, salsa is everywhere. Even getting into a taxi our a grocery store, you can't escape the sounds of pachanga. So becoming a dancer, was just inevitable.
The first time I remember seeing a professional dancer, I was 12 years old. My cousin is a dancer too and around that time she founded a dance school. From that moment, I completely fell in love with dance. It means so much more than just moving on the rhythm.
My first class, I started with the very basics, "the repique", which is incredibly fundamental for salsa dancing. I even remember the song I was dancing in, it's called Oh Mayi by Ricky Campelli. Now, 13 years later, I try to transfer the feeling I had during my first class during every class I teach. I want people to feel the happiness and passion I feel when I did my first repique.
I love all salsa, but the one I did lose my heart the most to, is my dear salsa caleño. It's so energetic, none other style can give you that boost the way a bugalo, pachanga, mambo or a chachacha does. It is incredible how much variety salsa caleño has to offer within just one style. Creating my own combinations and sharing that energy with someone on the dancefloor, is what brings me the most joy in the world.
Hi! I'm Steven, I'm from Cali and I love Salsa. Growing up in the heart of salsa in Colombia, it was inevitable for me to become a dancer. But for me dancing isn't just about me.
People recognize me as a dancer and a teacher, because I always smile. And that's because salsa brings me SO much joy. Joy I love to share. When I see my students just enjoying themselves instead of dancing the passes like robots, that means I did a good job. That's when I feel the most pride.
I teach both Salsa en Linea and Caleña and however I love both, Caleña really is just 200% who I am. The energy, the footwork, the variety, ... I just can't get sick of it. I regularly dance about 8 to 11 hours a day and I have over 10 years of teaching experience and I hope to do many more.
