Libélula is a rainforest sanctuary in Costa Rica dedicated to healing, connection, and transformation. We blend ancient traditions with modern wellness practices, all set amidst pristine rainforests and waterfalls.

Our vision to provide a safe & loving sanctuary to facilitate personal metamorphosis & transformation of the Self, providing curated journeys to nourish and restore mind, body, and spirit whilst supporting the indigenous communities we work with and the local community through our works.

Directions

*The Above Map Is Not Accurate!* We are a 45 minute drive into the mountains from the seaside town of Jaco. If you head for Bijagual there are two routes - the route near the Tarcoles bridge is well paved whereas the Jaco road just outside Jaco is quicker but you will need a 4x4 vehicle. Once in Bijagual if you take a left from the Tarcoles road or go forward from the Jaco road past the shops & ferretaria we are a further 4 miles along the mountain range just outside Esperanza. Don't head for Macaw lodge - we are the other left turning. Please contact Jesse on +447376124981 if you need further guidance. From Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO), Costa Rica's main airport hub Libélula is just a 2 1/2 hour shuttle trip to either the center or Playa Hermosa If we are collecting you from Playa Hermosa the journey is 45 - 60 mins up the mountain to the village of Bijagual. From there the center is 4 miles further into the mountain range near the small village of Esperanza.

Transformational experience

I feel so grateful for my experience at the Libelula retreat. The retreat is set in the most breathtaking mountain location, surrounded by waterfalls and nature, with magical views.
From the moment I arrived I felt safe, welcomed and truly held. There’s a beautiful energy in this place . The meals were delicious and prepared with love.
Everyone there is warm, caring and incredibly knowledgeable about healing arts and plant medicine. I left feeling lighter, inspired and deeply connected. A truly magical and transformational experience that I will carry in my heart. 💖

This retreat space has been built with great intention and care by the owners who have poured their hearts and soul into the land. The level of integrity around the way they hold space and the quality of the facilitators and medicine team they work with is second to none. I am still buzzing from my time at Libelula. It was so much more than a getaway, it was a homecoming.
The maloca where we held our ceremonies was breathtaking—a truly sacred, open-air sanctuary that allowed the spirit of the jungle to flow through every moment. Being guided by the indigenous elders was a profound honor; their ancient wisdom, songs, and presence brought a depth and authenticity to the experience that I will carry with me forever.
I also have to mention how incredible I felt physically. World class bodywork during ceremony , every meal was overflowing with nutrition—vibrant, life-giving food that tasted like it was grown with love (because it was!) swimming in the countless waterfalls. Beyond the setting and the ceremonies, it was the Libelula team that made the experience what it was. From the moment I arrived, I wasn’t just a guest; they made me feel like part of the family. That sense of belonging and safety allowed me to open up in ways I didn't know were possible.
If you are looking for a retreat that is grounded in tradition, nourished by nature, and led by a team with massive hearts, this is it.

Complete Life Transformation!

I had an absolutely incredible experience at Libélula, working with them both within their medicine ceremonies and through the personal development work offered outside of ceremony.

I arrived at Libélula carrying a lot of childhood trauma, shame, and chronic fatigue, along with difficult experiences from different areas of my life. From the moment I arrived, I felt incredibly held and supported. During my time there, I was able to release a great deal of trauma from both my body and my mind, and work through many layers of blocks and challenges that had been holding me back for a long time.

I am now in a place where I feel strong, empowered, healed, and genuinely excited about the future.

The space at Libélula is held to an expert level. There is a huge amount of care, attention to detail, and love that goes into everything they do. The team were phenomenal. Their presence, professionalism, and dedication made me feel completely safe, looked after, and supported throughout the entire process.

The center itself is absolutely beautiful. It is located in the mountains of the Costa Rican jungle, surrounded by nature, wildlife, incredible sunrises, and breathtaking sunsets. It is a truly special place, and you can feel the love that has been put into creating the space, as well as the love that is given to every guest who comes there.

This experience has been completely life-changing and deeply transformative for me. I can wholeheartedly recommend Libélula to anyone who feels called to make a real and meaningful change in their life. I have seen the change within myself, and my life has shifted in many beautiful ways since being there.

I am deeply grateful for this space for healing and transformation.

Beautiful in every way

The land on which Libélula retreat is built on has an amazing, calming and grounding effect - I felt it within seconds of arriving. The stars shine so bright at night, and the views across the valley are beautiful at anytime of the day.

This place is nurture for the soul and calming on so many levels that it’s hard to put into words.

The energy of everyone here matches the energy of the land, everyone is warm and welcoming, inspiring, heart centred and a joy to be around.

Making the decision to come here has been one of the most self affirming, life affirming, mesmerising and sacred experiences I’ve ever had. It has been a true honour. I will miss this place but carry a part of it with me and I’m sure this is the first of many more visits to Libélula.
