About SamaSama Yoga

Mission & Vision

Amy Petty and Kathleen Brooks, friends for nearly 20 years with a shared love for yoga and travel, created Sama Sama Yoga to offer transformative yoga retreats and trainings. The word sama, meaning unity and integration in Sanskrit, reflects their belief in recognizing the light in one another. Sama Sama, a Balinese phrase exchanged to express gratitude and togetherness, represents a culture both Amy and Kathleen hold dear.
Sama Sama Yoga provides a space for growth and meaningful connection through education and travel. What makes this retreat truly special is the leadership and intention behind it. Led by Amy and Kathleen, experienced yoga teachers (both ERYT500/YACEP) and seasoned retreat guides, the week is thoughtfully crafted to feel both deeply grounded and genuinely spacious.

Directions

Traveling to Provence: Helpful Tips There are three easy ways to arrive for the retreat. Options 1 & 2 include group pickup once you arrive. Option 1: Fly to Paris + TGV Train to Avignon You may choose to fly into Paris (CDG) and then take the high-speed TGV train to Avignon, which is smooth, comfortable, and scenic. The TGV ride from Paris to Avignon takes about 2.5–3 hours Trains run frequently throughout the day from Gare de Lyon or CDG n Paris You may opt to travel together with the group on the same train from Paris (details to come) Group pickup from Avignon TGV Station is included This option is ideal if you'd like to: Spend a night or two in Paris before or after the retreat Break up a long international flight Enjoy a relaxed transition into Provence For an extra fee, we may offer group booking together at a Paris hotel (night before traveling to Avignon) and group booking on TGV train tickets to travel together if there is enough interest from participants. Let us do the work on hotel booking and purchasing train tickets! Please let us know if you would like to take advantage of this option. Option 2: Fly Directly to Marseille (Most Direct) Fly into Marseille Provence Airport (MRS) via Paris or another point of transfer Marseille is about 1–1.5 hours from the villa Group pickup from Marseille Airport is included This is the most straightforward option if you prefer fewer travel steps. Option 3: Arrive Independently by Car Arrive at the villa on your own by rental or personal car The villa is easily accessible by car and has on-site parking This option is great if you plan to explore Provence before or after the retreat. Detailed driving directions and arrival timing will be shared closer to the retreat. A Few Helpful Planning Notes Try to arrive in Paris or Marseille at least one day before the retreat begins if you'd like extra buffer time TGV tickets are best booked early for the best schedules and pricing We'll share specific arrival and pickup details closer to the retreat date so coordinating is easy; only one pickup time for the group transfer will be available so please book accordingly If you're unsure which option is best for you, we're happy to help you think it through — just reach out. Traveling here is simpler than it might seem, and we'll make sure you're well supported from arrival onward. You're very welcome to come solo (many guests do), with a friend, or to share a room. We are always happy to help with room matching or questions.
