Directions
The Otorongo Center is located less than an hours travel from the Plaza de Armas in the city center, and the trip to the center embodies a miniature hero’s journey. After traveling up river for 20 minutes via our private longboat, the client disembarks and makes first ground with the island where the center is located. The air is different here. Hop into the moto taxi and get whisked away towards the center. Step out of the taxi and adventure awaits. There are two options to get to the center- one is via our new carved out path, level enough for a vehicle to traverse the terrain. Or, the walk through the jungle which has been utilized for generations. The walk involves walking through 10 minutes of beautiful, open aired landscape; passing by the cows, horses, flora and fauna along the way. Then, it is time to enter the darkness of the jungle. Leaving the light and into the darkness. After walking 10 more minutes through the closed jungle, the Otorongo Center emerges on the hillside; bright, illuminated and safe. A beacon on the hillside. The sounds of the surrounding flora and fauna acts as a protective barrier. This is a special place. Come journey with us
Mission & Vision
Our vision is to make people aware in the most traditional way that life can show us and not leave our culture aside and let us know that we are so powerful that we least imagined thanks to the connection we have with our pachamama.
Thanks for checking out the Otorongo Center. We are a Peruvian owned traditional Plant Medicine center. Disheartened by our neighbors selling off their land rights to logging operations, the Otorongo Center began in an attempt to prove a sustainable and responsible ownership model. This land has been in the Perez family for more than 3 generations, and this can be seen in how we treat the land, as well as our neighbors. We have been consistently hosting clients and connecting people with Curanderas for more than a decade.
