Huni Kuin Ayahuasca & Wachuma (Huachuma / San Pedro) Journey

April 8–11, 2026 | Libélula Retreat Center, Costa Rica

The Sanctuary Return is a short, powerful retreat held in the rainforest mountains of Costa Rica at Libélula Retreat Center.
This 4-day journey offers the opportunity to work with both sacred medicines — Ayahuasca and Wachuma (Huachuma / San Pedro) — in a safe, supportive, and professionally held environment.
It is designed for those who feel called to deep inner work but prefer a shorter, focused experience rather than a longer immersion.

Ceremony Overview
Ayahuasca Ceremony (Grandmother) — April 8
Integration & Rest Day — April 9
Wachuma (Huachuma / San Pedro) Ceremony — April 10
Closing & Integration — April 11

The Experience
Our ceremonies are guided by Huni Kuin (Kaxinawá) medicine carriers (Txanãs / Pajés) from the Yuba Nawa village, held within a living Indigenous tradition rooted in prayer, song, and respect.
The Yuba Nawa lineage carries a unique transmission, with strong feminine guidance passed down through their grandmother (Maje), offering a balanced and heart-centered ceremonial space.
In this tradition, the medicines are approached as intelligent, relational forces that respond to humility, intention, and respect.
A phrase often heard in ceremony:
Eskawata Kayaway, Kayaway Kiki
“Constant transformation through love.”

Ayahuasca Ceremony
Ayahuasca is a traditional Amazonian plant medicine used for healing, insight, and reconnection.
Each ceremony includes:
Opening circle & intention setting
Night ceremony with ícaros (sacred songs)
Trauma-aware support throughout
Optional participation (no pressure or expectation)
Experiences vary from emotional release and clarity to deep introspection. All experiences are welcomed and supported.

Wachuma (Huachuma / San Pedro) Ceremony
We hold our Wachuma ceremonies in our malloca around the fire and close the ceremony with a walk through our land to the sacred waterfalls to cleanse.
This ceremony offers:
Gentle expansion and emotional openness
Grounded integration of insights
Deep connection with nature and the heart

Preparation & Safety
Participation requires:
Medical screening
Awareness of contraindications (medications & conditions)
Commitment to preparation guidelines
We do not promise specific outcomes. This work supports personal insight and transformation through responsibility and integration.

Directions

*The Above Map Is Not Accurate!*

We are a 45 minute drive into the mountains from the seaside town of Jaco. If you head for Bijagual there are two routes - the route near the Tarcoles bridge is well paved whereas the Jaco road just outside Jaco is quicker but you will need a 4x4 vehicle.

Once in Bijagual if you take a left from the Tarcoles road or go forward from the Jaco road past the shops & ferretaria we are a further 4 miles along the mountain range just outside Esperanza. Don't head for Macaw lodge - we are the other left turning.

Please contact Jesse on +447376124981 if you need further guidance.

From Juan Santamaria Airport (SJO), Costa Rica's main airport hub Libélula is just a 2 1/2 hour shuttle trip to either the center or Playa Hermosa

If we are collecting you from Playa Hermosa the journey is 45 - 60 mins up the mountain to the village of Bijagual.
From there the center is 4 miles further into the mountain range near the small village of Esperanza.

Best medicine experience
I did over two years many different medicine experiences, but by far Libelula and these people—with so much love and compassion—was the most impressive and beautiful experience.

The people who work here truly come from a place of love. The level of care, attention, and energy they put into everything made a huge impact on me—it felt genuine and deeply meaningful.

There is something very special about this place. The energy is incredible, the nature is beautiful, and you can really feel it in every moment.

Everyone I met here left with a deep and powerful experience, and I’m no exception. This was truly something unforgettable.

Magickal Experience
I had the blessings to visit Libélula Retreat Center and participate in a medicine ceremony and it was one of the most magickal and expansive experiences I have had, and I have been sitting with plant medicines for over 8 years. Their space is not only incredibly beautiful and welcoming but it felt safe and protected. Every detail was taken care of in the most thoughtful and comforting way. There was respect and honoring of the medicine, the facilitators and the Maestros who came to share their ancestral knowledge, medicine, and lineage with us. It was welcoming, nurturing, respectful, expansive, and truly enlightening to share time and space in this lovely container, this beautiful land and all of its inhabitants. I am grateful to all who are a part of the Libélula family, as this is what they welcome you as family. Thank you to all! Much love and respect for the work that is being done and shared at this amazing Center.

The heart of transformation
I've been to 4 other retreats in my life, but libélula, I can't believe how much growth I experienced here. I felt seen, held, and as able to go deep, to the core. I'm so grateful for Kene, Maisie, Xuan, Caiá Isá, Syriani, Michael, Jessie, Viktoria, Fito, and everyone else. I thought the plants were the important part but the connection with the people here healed me very deep. And the connection to the land, the sense of abundance, beauty, is such a treat here. So if you feel stuck in your life and want to move forwards fast, this is the place to do so.
