About this Retreat
xe/they
Somatic therapist, Holy Fire Reiki practitioner, astrologer, death doula, and trauma alchemist – Sam weaves together the scientific and spiritual to walk with you through the darkness and light a new spark inside of you.
As a survivor of childhood trauma, divorce, family estrangement, and complex grief xe knows first hand how challenging it is to embody the change that you’ve spent years dreaming of… and how powerful it is when you can finally breathe that sigh of relief, and respond instead of react. (take it from someone who took the leap to live abroad after being widowed!)
After more than half a decade of working with private clients, learning from Indigenous and diasporic elders, and founding community initiatives such as the Grief Carnival, Sam is grateful to be welcoming D’orjay and Flora to host you in the sacred Portuguese mountains for seven full days of transformation.
they/them
D'orjay is a gender non-conforming human, dedicated healer, and full mesa carrying shaman who creates through several mediums of art and facilitates energy medicine in amiskwaciwâskahikan (so-called Edmonton) on treaty 6 land.
From their own personal journey of overcoming childhood trauma through holistic practices, they found transformative healing in energy medicine, shamanic healing, and Buddhism, they developed a unique shamanic practice that integrates both scientific and spiritual modalities.
They have been on pilgrimage to Tibet (Tsar Tsar Monastery, Ashuk Village) and trained with masters within the Q’ero tradition of shamanism in South America. With over 15 years of experience, D’orjay has lead hundreds of healing circles, dozens of workshops, and thousands of individual sessions, fostering a safe space for self-discovery and artistic expression.
they/them
Flora Nwakobi is an audacious multi-hyphenate who shapeshifts between being a filmmaker, yoga teacher, death doula, painter, & abolitionist. Experiencing the absurd reality of existence through a Queer Nigerian-Indian lens, they seek to subvert the dominant gaze and prioritize Queer/Ancestral pathways towards personal and collective liberation.
Grounded in Indigenous knowledge, Flora views yoga and creation as tools for connection, consciousness-shifting, and action, committed to continuous learning of how to put more of the world into their work.
Details of this retreat
You’ve been seeking integration.
Cleansing. Connection.
Embodiment. Wholeness.
This ain’t your mama’s dissociate-by-the-pool retreat.
This is your chance to finally shed the past and step into your future.
Your chance to integrate the healing you have been working towards.
We know that healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. That’s why we are bringing together a trio of healers from different paths and creating a retreat where healing becomes a choose-your-own-adventure – venturing through seven days in the Portuguese mountains within a community of people going through transformation.
This isn’t just a retreat to get away from it all – this is an opportunity to sink deeper into the shedding, healing, and re-orienting that you have been waiting for.
