About This Event

Sing Awakening: Becoming Human Instruments is a weekend retreat exploring the voice as a pathway to connection, creativity, and personal transformation. Set in the natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains, this immersive experience invites you to rediscover singing not as performance, but as a shared human practice — accessible to everyone, regardless of musical background.

Through guided vocal workshops, embodiment practices, and community experiences, participants learn to use breath, rhythm, and sound to unlock authentic expression and deeper presence. The retreat blends structured programming with spacious time for rest, nature, and connection, creating a balance of creativity, renewal, and play.

Each day flows between practice, relaxation, and community gathering. You might begin the morning grounding through movement and meditation, spend the afternoon singing or exploring nature, and end the evening around a fire sharing music and conversation.

Throughout the weekend, participants will experience:

Guided group singing and vocal activation sessions

Morning yoga, meditation, and breathwork

“Human Instruments” music and improvisation practices

Cold plunge and sauna experiences

Nature walks and time on AKERA’s 123-acre property

Collaborative music-making and jam sessions

Facilitated community connection and sharing circles

Nourishing communal meals

Evening fireside gatherings and singing

Time for rest, reflection, and integration

Designed for singers and non-singers alike, this retreat welcomes artists, seekers, and curious humans who want to reconnect with creativity, community, and their own voice in a supportive, inclusive environment.

You’ll leave with practical tools for creative expression, a renewed sense of aliveness, and meaningful connections formed through shared sound and experience.
