Details of this retreat

Metta, Malas & Mindfulness
Step away from the noise of everyday life and spend a weekend exploring loving-kindness through meditation, mindful movement, creativity, and connection.
Metta is the practice of cultivating goodwill toward ourselves and others. Throughout this retreat, you’ll be gently introduced to loving-kindness meditation and given practical ways to carry the practice into daily life. No previous meditation or yoga experience is required.
Each morning begins with meditation and an accessible yoga practice designed to help you arrive more fully in your body. From there, the weekend unfolds through guided teachings, quiet time, nourishing vegetarian meals, and a hands-on mala-making workshop.
With the support of our facilitators, you’ll create your own traditional mala, learn how to hold it and move from bead to bead, and discover how it can support a personal meditation practice. Once the malas are complete, we’ll gather for a meaningful blessing ceremony beside the Blanco River before using them together in a guided loving-kindness meditation.
The retreat is intentionally spacious. There will be time to rest, walk the property, sit by the river, journal, or simply enjoy the stillness between sessions. While this is not a fully silent retreat, periods of quiet and a gentle digital detox will create room for reflection and deeper presence.
Set on 23 private acres along the Blanco River, Zoetic River offers a peaceful setting of forests, meadows, wildlife, and spring-fed water. Between sessions, you may spend time beneath the cypress trees, visit our miniature goats and Flemish rabbits, relax in a hammock, or explore the grounds at your own pace.
This retreat is for anyone who wants to soften self-criticism, reconnect with compassion, explore meditation in an approachable way, and create something meaningful to take home.
Come as you are. Leave with a handmade mala, a deeper understanding of loving-kindness, and a practice you can return to long after the weekend ends.

Thank you
My 3-day silent retreat at Zoetic River was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I've ever had. There were moments of discomfort where I desperately missed my phone and the distractions that usually help me avoid sitting with difficult thoughts. But that's exactly where the growth happened.

The team at Zoetic River thought of absolutely everything. Every detail was intentional, my accommodations were beautiful and comfortable, the food was nourishing, and I never felt like I was missing anything. They made the discomfort of silence as comfortable and supported as it could possibly be.

I left feeling rejuvenated, deeply rested, incredibly grateful, and, at times, even euphoric. The experience gave me space to reconnect with myself in a way I didn't realize I needed. If you're willing to lean into the discomfort, the rewards are immeasurable.

I will absolutely be back. Thank you to everyone at Zoetic River for creating such a thoughtful, healing, and unforgettable experience.
