You will arrive at the retreat center at 1pm on the first day of your retreat to settle in to the beautiful location, find your room and meet the rest of the group. If it is your first time sitting with the Shanti Wasi tribe, Jim and Sassy will ensure that they chat with you personally about the process, your intentions and any other information that you may wish to exchange prior to the start of the first ceremony. The rest of the afternoon prior to the start of the ceremony should be used to wind-down, disconnect from electronic devices, hydrate on water and soothing herbal teas, read a book, swimming/surfing in the ocean and resting. Generally no food is consumed after lunchtime, so there will be no meals provided on the first day.
At around 5pm everyone will gather in ceremony room and prepare for the first ayahuasca ceremony. You can take your time to prepare your space, set your intentions, familiarize yourself with your surroundings, meditate etc. Once the sun goes down the medicine will be poured, and the ceremony will last until until approximately midnight.
At the end of the ceremony, coconut water and perhaps watery fruits will be provided, and the group will be given time to wind down and connect with others after this powerful experience. As and when you are ready, you will head back to your cabin/rancho and get some well deserved rest.
The next morning, breakfast will be served between 7-9am, and foods will be generally light and fresh. Depending on the energy levels of the group, Jim and Sassy may call a sharing circle after breakfast. This gives everyone a chance to vocalize their first ceremony experience with the rest of the tribe, and express any thoughts they may be having after their journey. If this does not happen at this point, everyone will have a chance to share the following morning after the second ceremony. The group will then have free time until lunch, and this is a great opportunity to participate in extra treatments that are on offer. This could be acupuncture, massage or body work. Alternatively you can relax on the beach or in the lodge, read an inspiring book, get creative with art materials or crafts, write in a journal, surf or swim the waves in the area or rest.
Lunch will be served around midday, and this will be the last food provided before the second ceremony that night. There will then be more free time until we meet in the ceremony room again at 5pm.
Once the sun goes down, the medicine will be served and the journey with ayahuasca will commence again. At the end of the ceremony, the group will be provided with refreshments again and you will head back to bed in your own time.
On your final morning there will be a sharing circle where everyone will share anything they would like to after their ceremony weekend. This can be a very profound and emotional experience for some people, and you may feel a deep connection with the other people that you have shared this experience with. These sharing circles are a great way to begin the integration process after your medicine journey.
After the sharing circle, a brunch or lunch will be provided, and you then have the rest of the day to integrate your teachings from the sacred ceremonies with the rest of the tribe. This is an important day where you can take it slow and listen to your body, while having the full support of the team around you should you need any assistance in processing your experiences.
You will be provided with a wholesome family dinner on your last night at the lodge, and can take time to rest, share music and stories, and get a good night's sleep. The next morning your retreat will end and we will all embark on the next leg of our journey as we carry our lessons into the ceremony of life
