Details of this retreat

We are excited to host our first Forest Bathing Retreat with Benjamin Page, author of Healing Trees.

Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing or "Shinrin-Yoku," offers a pathway for people to remember how to immerse themselves in nature in order to rest from all that consumes them in their daily lives. It’s all about slowing down, connecting to our sensate bodies and cultivating relationships with the beings of the More Than Human World. This practice not only benefits our physical health by lowering stress, boosting our innate immune systems and restoring our attention, but also supports us in opening our hearts to receive the wisdom and gifts of nature. In offering our attention to the beings of nature, we may come to witness ourselves and know, deep in our hearts, that we are of the Earth and that we belong. We will also enjoy expressive arts in nature by creating in partnership with nature, leaves, sticks, flowers, seeds, rocks, sand…. Create freely with no specific outcome in mind – without the burden of needing it to be a certain way. Perhaps one of the most ancient modalities, expressive arts has fostered healing through self-expression for thousands of years. Today, we understand that this practice can improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions, foster self esteem and self awareness, promote insight and cultivate emotional resilience. Perfect for anyone seeking a journey towards the heart of being in search of spontaneity, harmony, paradox and the beauty of everyday experience supported by a like-minded and open-hearted community in beautiful nature settings.

Healing
When I arrived to this retreat, I knew it would be great but I wasn’t sure exactly how it would affect me. Initially, I was pretty anxious as I have social anxiety. I never leave my phone and I practiced less screen time here at the retreat, leaving my phone behind in the cabin for hours on end. By the 2nd day, I found myself no longer socially anxious or thinking about my phone. The practices helped me relieve tension and anxiety and allowed me to truly live in the moment. It was a beautiful and healing experience and I would definitely recommend.

A hidden sanctuary
The last time I had traveled solo was in 2019. Taking a solo weekend away to Ratna Ling (driving to and from 3 hours and not knowing anyone upon arrival) was a huge leap of faith for me. But I'm glad I took the risk and leapt. At Ratna Ling, the retreat felt like a return to "home." A re-discovering of my inner strength and self that has gotten hidden among the business of work and parenting two littles. I entered the retreat with "discovery" as my 2025 guiding principle, and I left with so much more clarity over my purpose, my direction, and belief in what I am capable of.

5 stars also for the cleanliness and thoughtful touches in the cabins, the idyllic grounds, and the absolutely DELICIOUS vegetarian food.

Amazing Place for a Retreat, Personal or otherwise
My wife and I just finished leading a weekend retreat at Ratna Ling, truly as the name implies, a jewel of a place. It is perhaps the 6th time we are held our events here, and it is consistently one of the best places in the world were we get the privilege to share our yoga with people. The setting is beautiful, the lodgings wonderful, the vegetarian cuisine delicious and plentiful and the staff attentive and always helpful. We love this place and can't wait to return in 2025!

Amazing Bay Area Retreat Center!
After just returning from this magical place, I want to share with others how important it is to get away, if even for a weekend, to re-charge, go inward and be part of a beautiful community commited to making the world a better place, starting with ourselves. The cabins, the staff, the food, are worth your time and investment!
