About this Retreat
My name is Gloria, I am Colombian, and currently studying art therapy and Energetic phytotherapy. I began my journey with medicinal plants at a very young age when I tried yagé with the Inga tribe in Colombia, who use wachuma (San Pedro) and rapé to prepare the body. It was an experience that completely changed my life, as it healed my body and soul.
I moved a little bit away from the path of medicinal plants when I discovered the Hare Krishna temple in Bogotá and spent time with the Krishna devotees, learning their scriptures, music, food, meditation, and yoga.
I studied pharmaceutical chemistry in Bogotá and came to Spain to continue my university studies. Although my university classes revealed to me that my way of helping people is through the ancestral medicines that come from my culture.
Working with people has always been my dream, and I firmly believe that this planet will be a much better place when we all empower ourselves, come together, and return to loving and caring for what is essential from the heart. That is why I also want to incorporate the ancestral wisdom of Colombian indigenous women, making them part of this project.
I share rapé and San Pedro ceremonies, and I also lead "children of the sky" (magic mushrooms) ceremonies, which I cultivate with much love and care.
My name is Emma. I was born in a village near Barcelona and studied Psychology at university. I am right now studying Familiar Constellations in order to combine and use the knowledge in my work with plant medicine.
During my Psychology studies, I specialised in neuropsychology and started to come into contact with psychoactive substances in my fourth year through psychopharmacology courses. However, I didn't connect with the therapeutic potential of the therapies we were being taught. I saw that they were based on highly mental, slow, and shallow strategies. I realised that quite often, people go to therapy for many years without really getting to the root of their trauma, either because they deceive themselves and the therapist, or because they don't have the tools to see, remember, and start healing what happened to them.
It it was a few years later, while travelling through Latin America, that I truly connected with the healing power and potential of master plants in a way that completely changed my life and my relationship with psychotherapy.
First in Nicaragua and then in Colombia, I had the opportunity to live near communities that were deeply connected to sacred plants. Thus, I began my own healing journey in a beautiful and profound process that made me reconnect with psychology and therapy in a completely different way than what I had been shown at university. I could see the extent to which plants can help people truly heal their traumas from the root, from the depths of their being. I could see the suffering that we accumulate by growing up in this society, and the need to work for mental health and collective healing. And I could see the role I could play as a guide in these sacred spaces, where the greatest work is done by the person and the plant, being able to offer my guidance, support and love before, during, and after the ceremony.
Since that first connection with teacher plants, I started studying them and accompanying ceremonies and retreats. I have witnessed profound healing experiences, empowerment, and life changes, and it is my biggest goal, mission, and honour being able to support in this beautiful journey towards growth and healing.
Details of this retreat
“Retreat is not an absence; rather it is the search for a true presence”
GEORGES GUSDORF
Would you like to experience the power of teacher plants in a safe environment exclusively for women? We understand that women need spaces created by and for women, which is why Femtheogen is a retreat center EXCLUSIVELY with this purpose. We offer a 5-day retreat where you can reconnect with your true essence in between mountains of the Mediterranean coast, near the beautiful city of Valencia, surrounded by lavender fields and organic agriculture.
We are certain that the change in the world depends on female empowerment, on reclaiming our place in society, and supporting each other on this healing journey as the sisters we are. During this retreat, you will have the opportunity to meet other women like you who come to heal and reclaim their inner strength. You will be surrounded by a team of facilitators, medicine women, nutrition specialists, and psychologysts who will provide support before, during, and after the retreat.
On the first day of the retreat, you will have the opportunity to approach the medicine (psilocybin mushrooms) in a loving and careful manner, through a cacao ceremony with a mushrooms microdosis, preparing you for a safe and transformative journey within yourself on the third day. The ceremonies will be supported by live medicine music that will guide your healing journey.
Throughout the retreat, there will be various preparation and integration activities to support your process of healing and growth. It is an opportunity to reconnect to Mother Nature and feel once again part of the Whole, the Unity, in a network of sisterhood. We will introduce some holistic health practices through yoga, nutrition and care of our body, that will launch our own being towards the highest wellbeing in the body, in the mind and in the energetic plane.
Ancestral medicines can open doors to our subconscious, allowing us to heal our deepest wounds. They give us the opportunity to connect with our divinity, as written by María Sabina, "the spirit woman," shaman or Chjota Chjine (the one who knows), known for her knowledge of plant medicine and the sacred mushroom, known as Teonanacatl, which she lovingly called "little angels" or "little children." In her own words:
"There is a world beyond ours, a world that is far yet near and invisible. It is where God, the dead, and the saints reside. A world where everything has already happened, and everything is known. That world speaks. It has its own language. I transmit what it says. The sacred mushroom takes me by the hand and leads me to the world where everything is known. There are the sacred mushrooms that speak in a certain way that I can understand. I ask them, and they answer me. When I return from the journey I have taken with them, I say what they have told me and what they have shown me."
FEMTHEOGEN is a word and a concept as itself. Fem (comes from the word feminine) and entheogen, derived frim Greek entheos (that contains God within), refers to vegetable substances - or a preparation/combination of vegetable substances - that once consumed, can induce altered states of consciousness.
The concept FEMTHEOGEN refers to the feminine sacredness that these altered states of consciousness can induce; the experiences with entheogens can repare this illusory state of separation and we can feel connected with the Unity and the Mother.
FEMTHEOGEN is born from the union of spiritual sisters that recognised each other in the healing path, working together in ancestral medicines retreats. We felt that even though the work that we were doing was helping many brothers and sisters, we wanted to create a sacred space for women to heal. A space where they can feel safe and understood, because we know that individual wounds are also collective wounds and if one of us heals, we all heal. Because our individual crisis translate into the social and global crisis that we face nowadays.
After many ceremonies together, the conversations to make this collective dream come true began. One night, after a ceremony with ancestral medicines, we decided to take this step in order to help women heal and empower themselves and in this way, help the masculine collective as well.
That is why we created this space, cared for from the beginning, conceived with love, respect and with the sole intention of healing together as sisters on this Earth that we must respect and treat with care as well, this Earth that we have been hurting for centuries and to which we owe everything that we have. Our mission goes beyond species, as all beings and all the other animals are sacred as well. That is why in our retreats, we will promote conscious eating and the love for the knowledge of the plants. We will show you how to use medicinal plants and together, we will foster and grow global eco-consciousness.
