About this Retreat
Art Grigorian is a Yoga teacher living in Los Angeles. While studying Music Composition and Piano Performance at CSUN, he discovered Yoga, and after a decade of self practice, found inspiration to teach. His journey led him to the right teachers, as it often will, who continued to unravel the mystery and inspire clarity on his path. Art undertook his teacher training in Pasadena, CA under a distant disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda, and began teaching yoga classes immediately. In 2014, Art went to India to study Mysore Ashtanga for 3 months. He returned to teach in Pasadena, and in 2016, made the leap to open his own studio in his hometown of Glendale, CA. Art’s formal musical training has been a vital part of his yoga teachings. During his classes, he incorporates music in a unique way. The amalgamation of music and yoga makes each class a healing and a life changing experience. Yoga has now been an abiding presence in his life for more than 25 years. He has studied various styles of yoga with some of the most distinguished teachers around the world. He offers private yoga classes, corporate yoga classes, life coaching sessions, and sometimes shares another side of himself as a compelling writer.
Details of this retreat
Why is it that most days we lack the energy or the motivation to truly enjoy this beautiful life we get to live only once? Most of us have enough of everything we need to live a normal life, no? Why then do we love to complain upon waking up and become consumed by apathy? What is it that suppresses our enthusiasm and vitality, makes us submit to laziness and lethargy?
We have lost connection with nature at large.
Time in nature, deepening our understanding of the natural connection we have with her, allows fear to fall away. It will give us the drive and enthusiasm to go on living, creating, and loving. When we look at mountains, I mean really look at them, we see they know nothing of fear - hence their magnificence and grandeur.
If we recognize and nourish within ourselves the non-separation we hold with nature, spend time in her embrace, give her our attention, then we come to know of the innate courage lurking inside us at all times.
There is no separation. We are all part of the same intelligent process.
Last summer my family and I visited the state of Montana where I taught some yoga classes, but more importantly, we came to take some deep breaths, and to be in the company of majestic mountains, lush forests, and beautiful, hospitable people. We stayed in the little town of Bigfork, which literally appears to have fallen from a storybook. As we settled there, we found so much more than we expected... nestled in the mountains, surrounded by crystal clear rivers and lakes, dotted with little cafes where they make delicious coffee and homemade baked goods. The restaurants and little mom and pop stores do not disappoint. There is even a theater where they perform Broadway shows.
There is plenty to do here, but for some of us, it is the space giving silence we gravitate towards. We are drawn towards the silent embrace of the lush forests and wide rivers where we can retreat from our busy lives.
My time there has inspired me to pursue my own heart’s desire and create a fairy tale story for myself and my family. I decided to do my first ever yoga retreat in Bigfork in the summer of 2024. I am inviting all those who seek purity, peace and reconciliation - who have a secret desire in their hearts to live life with Truth. A week of living in Truth with Truth in our hearts is so potent, you might be inspired to clear some of those destructive patterns and replace them with peaceful, loving, healthier habits.
