About this Retreat
Howard has been practicing yoga and meditation for over 45 years. After receiving extensive training in the US and India, he has been sharing his knowledge and experiences of the science of yoga throughout the US and abroad. In 2006, he was a co-founder of the Prama Institute and has been one of the main faculty since then. His workshops and retreats focus on personal growth, lifestyle change, holistic health, the practice of silence, meditation, community building, and social transformation.
Sid has combined a career as a licensed clinical psychologist and yoga teacher since 1971. As a clinical psychologist, he taught psychotherapy and community psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and served as director of the Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Services in a community center at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC over a period of 25 years. Since 1994, he has been developing a sustainable intentional community north of Asheville on 140 acres of land.
Yoga came into Joel's life at a young age and it quickly became a perfect supplement to his athletic trainings as a lacrosse player throughout high school and college. Although it was the physical practice of yoga that drew Joel in, it was the mental and more subtle aspects of the practice that made Joel fall in love with yoga for life.
Joel's first glimpse into the more internal world of yoga and meditation was a Vipassana silent meditation retreat in Thailand in 2015. From that point on his world shifted and he knew there was so much more to discover within the body and mind. He has attended teacher trainings in Thailand, Peru & Bali and has taught yoga at various places all over the world.
Joel creates a safe space that allows students to feel comfortable and to truly be themselves. You can expect his classes and teaching style to be challenging, fun, creative, intentional, meditative. Joel has a passion for sharing the gifts he has received from the practice of yoga with the community around him!
Details of this retreat
The 4 Day Deep Silent Meditation & Yoga Retreat is based on our transformative weekend silent meditation retreat. It is truly amazing how only a few days of silence can create a sense of self discovery and camaraderie. This longer retreat gives participants the opportunity to delve deeper inside themselves in a peaceful and supportive environment.
During this extended silent program, you will be able to revitalize yourself, unclutter your mind, deepen your understanding of yourself and others, and discover sources of strength you may have only glimpsed but now can come to own. Silence allows you the time you always wanted to put things into perspective, find the balance, and recognize what the signs of your life are trying to tell you.
