The Sleep Retreat was designed to provide evidence-based strategies & CBT techniques that improve your sleep quality in an environment dedicated to complete rest & relaxation. It was created for those with insomnia, clinical sleep disorders, or sleep issues resulting from chronic pain, shift work, menopause or ADHD.

Our program dives deep into the science of sleep through interactive workshops that reveal the secrets to effective sleep habits & hygiene, but also includes daily activities that support healthy sleep.

You’ll receive a personalized sleep plan based on your unique needs, plus daily one-on-one support & coaching with a sleep expert. Our goal is that you experience what it feels like to be completely rested, & leave with the tools & support to maintain your progress at home.

Directions

Your experience at The Sleep Retreat starts with a privately chartered flight to take you from Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) to the Quepos landing strip near the retreat centre in order to cut the travel time from 4 hours in a car to 20 minutes in a plane. From there, you'll be greeted by the Imiloa team and driven in an SUV directly to Imiloa where The Sleep Retreat will officially begin.

Luxury transportation is included throughout your stay at The Sleep Retreat if you want to plan any additional activities to visit the beach or to do shopping in town.

On the last day of the retreat, you will be driven back to the airstrip and enjoy a relaxing private flight back to SJO.

Important Notes:

Arrival
Please book your international flight to Juan Santamaría International Airport (Airport code: SJO).

You will need to arrive at the SJO domestic terminal no later than 8:45 AM on November 4, 2024.
The charter flight will depart at 9:15 AM. If you arrive to San Jose airport the same day as your retreat begins, please arrive by 7:00 AM or earlier.

If you cannot arrive at the international terminal by the suggested times above, please book your travel to arrive in the day(s) before the start of the retreat (November 3, 2024).
If you arrive to the domestic terminal at SJO after the suggested times, you will not arrive in time to travel on the charter flight. We can still assist with your transport, but you will be responsible for your own transportation to Imiloa as well as any cost incurred.
If you choose not to utilize the method of transportation provided for your retreat to/from Imiloa you are responsible for the cost of alternate/ground transportation. For example if you choose not to fly on the charter plane you will be responsible for the cost of your ground transportation.
Departure
Your departure date is November 9, 2024. You will leave Imiloa at 9:00 AM and arrive at SJO International Airport at approximately 10:30 AM.

The domestic terminal is a 5-10 minute walk to the international terminal at SJO. Typically, it is suggested to be at the international terminal 2.5 hours prior to your international departure.

Please book your departing international flight accordingly, knowing that you will be at the airport at 10:30AM on departure day.

If you book your flight earlier than this, you will be responsible for your own transportation to SJO airport (airport taxis are $285 one way, and taxis from Imiloa to Quepos landing strip are $115 one way).

The Sleep Retreat is set in the heart of the rainforest at the luxurious Imiloa Institute. This private retreat center is nestled within 22 acres of jungle oasis, located in Dominical, Costa Rica. Surrounded by lush rainforest and majestic views of the Pacific Ocean, the tranquil ambiance of this tropical paradise creates the perfect environment for unwinding and reconnecting with your sleep.

Menu Types

All of the gourmet, plant-based meals are included in the ticket price. This includes three-course plated dinners, multi-course lunch and breakfasts, plus snacks, juices, coffee, and tea.

What's Included

  • Accommodations: 6 days and 5 nights at the luxury Imiloa Institute
  • Private Transportation:Included in your retreat ticket is a privately chartered plane from SJO to Imiloa, as well as luxury ground transportation to and from the airstrip.
  • All-inclusive Meals: All gourmet plant-based meals are included in the retreat ticket price. This includes three-course plated dinners, multi-course lunch and breakfasts, plus snacks, juices, coffee and tea.
  • Sleep Works Tool Kit: To make the most of your experience, Sleep Works provides a basic sleep tool kit: eye mask, ear plugs, essential oil, blue light blocking glasses, journal, pen and bright light therapy lamp.
  • Daily Group Workshops: 1 - 2 daily group workshops that will be a combination of sleep education, techniques and interactive activities that promote sleep health.
  • Individual Coaching: You will meet with one of our sleep experts each day of the retreat to check in and adjust your personalized program as needed.
  • Daily Activities:
  • Choose to participate in various daily activities that include yoga, hiking, beach excursions, guided meditations, guided journaling, private waterfall access, and more!
  • Pre-Retreat Intake: Before you embark on your journey to Costa Rica, you will meet virtually for a one-on-one appointment with a sleep expert to review your sleep concerns and goals for the Sleep Retreat.
  • Personal Sleep Program: Based on the results from your intake appointment, you will be provided a custom program that includes personalized objectives, goals and treatment plan for your time on retreat.
  • Post-retreat Support: After your departure, you will be scheduled for virtual individual follow-up appointments with a sleep expert at 1, 3 and 6 month intervals (based on individual requirements).

What's Not Included

  • Inbound & Outbound flights: Please note that your inbound & outbound flights to Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) are not included in the ticket price. In order to board the private charter flight, you must arrive at SJO prior to 7:00 AM on November 4. If not possible, please book your flight the day before & spend the extra night in San Jose. Departure flight from SJO should be after 1:00PM on November 9.
  • Travel Insurance: We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for your trip with option to "cancel for any reason".
  • Spa Treatments: Unless you booked an early bird spot, spa treatments will not be included as part of the ticket price, but are available to add on to your experience.
  • Gratuities: For Housekeeping or Imiloa Staff
