Lovely location and staff, really sweet karma yogis who take care of cooking delicious meals.
I was here for a silent meditation retreat and it was not silent; typical sounds of a small Mexican town. Construction, traffic, dogs etc. Nothing Hridaya can do about it but just a heads up. Also, rules for the silent meditation retreat were quite relaxed. People went shopping, used their phones for notes and so on. So, if you're used to stricter rules, that might throw you off.
The retreat had about 4-5 hours of spoken content daily, and 5-6 hours of meditation. There was too much talking for me. Also, the content seemed to be all over the place, with little structure. The teacher mostly quoted other teachers and did not draw on personal experience. The content was also very spiritual, with prayers to Jesus Christ etc. Not for everyone.
I relaxed and recentered during the retreat, but I would not come back. I did not find it to be an environment suitable for really deep meditation. However, some of the participants that were very spiritual or religious, or new to meditation, found it helpful.
