Mission & Vision of San Flaviano Monastery

San Flaviano Monastery was created as a place where women could step out of the pace and pressure of modern life and find the time and professional support needed to work with trauma in a safe and respectful environment.

Owned and held by British trauma psychotherapist Tess Hunneybell, the restored 15th-century monastery in the Umbrian mountains was intentionally designed for small, carefully held retreats. The aim is not to offer a typical wellness escape, but a calm and contained space where meaningful therapeutic work can unfold.

By keeping groups small and the setting quiet, San Flaviano allows women to slow down, reconnect with their nervous system, and begin the process of recovery with skilled guidance and genuine human care.
