A few years ago, I developed a deep fascination with healing, which led me to explore several ayahuasca retreats across Europe and South America. The entire journey—from the dieta preparation to the travel, meeting new people, and ultimately confronting your own pain—is such an intimate and profound experience.

Having encountered a few mediocre retreats in the past, I often feel a bit apprehensive upon arriving at a new one. However, the moment I arrived at Avalon, I felt completely at ease. The organisation was impeccable, and the shamans, musicians, and medicine were absolutely extraordinary. Despite the schedule being quite intensive, I somehow felt deeply rested throughout my time there.

What truly sets Avalon apart is their outstanding support system. From one-on-one sessions to integration circles and aftercare, every element of the experience is thoughtfully designed to guide and nurture your healing journey.

Attending Avalon has been one of the best investments I’ve ever made for my health. Not only did it help me address significant trauma, but it also allowed me to connect with like-minded individuals who have since become lifelong friends.

I recently participated in a week-long retreat in Spain with a team of experienced facilitators from Weareavalon.love. This was the most rewarding self-exploration experience of my life. I have attended other retreats, conferences, and self-discovery weekends, but none of them came close to the profound impact of this journey. I found the Ayahuasca journey to be more beneficial than two years of weekly psychotherapy.

The most important component of the retreat was the staff. There are many retreats worldwide, but the collective group attending, and the staff that managed the introduction, the ceremony, and the post-ceremony integration, allowed me to achieve maximum takeaway to use in real life. The 5-star meal preparation was specifically designed to maximize our energy and not contaminate the process with empty calories. I would like to thank everyone who made the event possible.

The team was totally dedicated to the retreat and prioritized the attendees over all other concerns. The facility was perfectly situated in nature, free of outside distractions, and in a stunning location.

The Ayahuasca experience had been calling to me for quite a considerable time, but it was only after dealing with the fallout of a a breakup from a particularly toxic relationship right before Christmas, that I made the spontaneous decision to attend Avalon 29.

I arrived at Avalon broken, damaged, full of despair, insecurity and self loathing.

Within five days of ceremony, interaction, gentle instruction, massage, one on one discussion, meditation and truly delicious nourishment via the meticulously prepared gourmet diet provided by the retreat, I left Avalon full of joy, , centred, with an almost overwhelming feeling of love -self love especially- clarity of mind, clarity of purpose. I was finally at peace, having made profound social connections as deep if not deeper than any I’d previously made in my entire life prior to going there.

The transition in me had begun as quickly as the second day following my first Ayahuasca ceremony, which was held on the evening of my arrival and the immediate change was so obvious and pronounced my fellow participants couldn’t help but comment on it. In fact by the end of the retreat it was expressed to me by some that they regarded my transition in such a short space of time as little short of miraculous and inspirational.

This is VERY powerful medicine, not just within the Ayahuasca itself, but also within the music, designed to elevate us into states of consciousness necessary to begin the healing process and purge what hinders us, cripples us or simply no longer serves us; whilst at the same time drawing in profound experiences and insights that help us heal, grow and be the best version of ourselves that we can possibly be.

Make no mistake however, retreats like Avalon are only the beginning of the healing journey. Avalon is a doorway that can lead to a richer, more rewarding and satisfying sense of being. If one is prepared to open up, trust in the healing process, surrender to the experience, and embrace the strange with an open heart and without fear, the rewards to oneself can be immeasureable . At Avalon I found being open wasn’t difficult to do, surrounded such as I was by a powerful circles of mutually supportive, fellow participants, and a group of compassionate, responsible, experienced guides that gently led us through the process. During the entire experience I was never in any doubt that I’d placed myself in very good hands.

By the time the retreat was over I felt humbled and deeply grateful for the experience, which I count as one of the greatest experiences that I’ve had in all my 64 years of life. This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the greatest gift I’ve given myself.

Now as I step back into my life, the challenge is to bring all those insights, lessons and all of the self reflection to bare as i continue my healing away from the tranquil sanctuary that I’ve known for the last five days. My heart yearns for the seclusion and peace that I found there, the perpetual ceremonial fire that blazed throughout, beneath one of the most breathtakingly beautiful night skies I’ve ever seen. As I write this I have every intention of returning to Avalon so that I might find the door that leads to the next stage of my spiritual and emotional healing.

If Ayahuasca is calling to you too, do yourself the biggest you will ever do yourself and choose Avalon. you’ll spend the rest of your days grateful that you did, trust me.

I attended a bufo retreat held by the lovely Ness Dalga and it was a truly life-changing experience. The whole team was welcoming and accommodating from the second I signed up for the retreat and I was feeling safe the whole way to the end of the retreat. The ceremony was done with such care and warmth and attention, I always felt the caring energy from the staff. I cannot recommend it enough!
