About this Retreat
Tarun Agrawal, founder and director of The Kranti Yoga Village, was born in 1980 in Chhattisgarh, Middle India. Following a family tradition, at the age of 9, he frequented a guru named Sant Chana Baba for meditation and yogic spiritual talks. Chana Baba was an old Tantra Master living in a temple located on Shakti Mountain. He gave Tarun his spiritual name, Kranti, meaning revolution. It is no surprise that this has therefore become the name of his successful business, a yoga school with accommodation, on Patnem Beach, Goa.
Tarun started his spiritual journey when he was just a boy. He started Asana Classes with Swami Vidhyanand Saraswati at Sivananda Kutir Yoga Ashram and was trained there in several different styles of yoga: Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Sivananda, Kundalini and Raja. During this period, he was also taught Ayurveda by Dr. Manoj Sharma. He started teaching yoga at the age of 14.
In 1999 he became a member of The Divine Live Society Sivananda Ashram in Rishikesh and stayed there for around 2 years. During this time, he was exposed to many spiritual Indian masters who influenced and molded his thinking and lifestyle.
In 2001, having stayed in several different ashrams, he taught Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at OSHO International Ashram, Pune. At the same time, he furthered his training at Jagan Mohan Palace in Mysore over the course of 3 years. Here, he was able to deepen his knowledge of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Since then, he has dedicated himself to teaching others this dynamic and powerful form of yoga.
In 2007, Tarun started his own yoga shala (school) in Goa and has since been teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Tarun was certified by The Yoga Alliance in 2010. At this time, he started travelling throughout Europe giving numerous classes and workshops. His reputation grew. His once simple shala on Palolem Beach has evolved into a yoga community on Patnem Beach, The Kranti Yoga Village.
And so, Tarun continues to share his knowledge of yoga through his team. He is proud to have developed many of his former students to become yoga teachers in order to support the learning journey that comes with Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga on the Yoga Teacher Training Courses. As the school grows, so to do our teachers, all under the close supervision and guidance of Tarun himself. His policy is that his teachers are trained with him in the authentic Indian way, living most of the year, with him in the shala. Tarun believes strongly in promoting the spiritual side of yoga to support the physical. This is evident from the curriculum that he has developed over the years and more importantly from the teachers that that he has nurtured to teach.

Course Objectives
An introspective journey through the subtle body, becoming intimate with our chakra anatomy and our unique experience of the now.
To develop a distinctive Hatha Flow Yoga practice.
To develop a practice of Kundalini Inspired breathwork.
To bring discussions of traditional Eastern Philosophy into a modern-day context.
To understand how to practically apply this knowledge as both a practitioner and yoga teacher.
Kundalini Inspired Breathwork Yoga
This is a 2 hour morning practice that will take place on alternate days. Classes will comprise of movement, asanas, kriyas, pranayama and mantra chanting. The sequence has been designed to shift energetic blockages in the chakras, allowing the kundalini energy to flow freely. The Kundalini inspired classes will focus on ego eradication, aura expansion and transformation. This is a powerful practice that will leave you feeling invigorated. It is a huge part of the Hatha Flow and Chakra Course.
The Chakras Explored
This daily 2-hour workshop is an in-depth exploration of the theory and philosophy behind each of the chakras; combining Eastern philosophy with Western rhetoric to understand the complexity of the subtle body. These classes cover the basic characteristics of each chakra. Students will discuss what coping mechanisms we may adopt to deal with excessive and deficient traits of each chakra, exploring how we can use our physical yoga practice to restore balance to these dynamic energy centres. Using tools inspired by artistic healing practices such as creative visualisation and doodling, students will learn how to interpret the energetic body. Workshops will demonstrate bio-energetic grounding, dynamic movement and yogi drills as tools to explore our subtle body through physical efforts.
Chakra Hatha Flow Yoga
These 90-minute Slow Flow classes are centred around the chakras and each class will demonstrate how to build a creative commentary based on just one chakra – leaving you feeling totally connected to that particular energy centre. Postures will be low impact and the Hatha Yoga Teacher Training in Goa will provide a soft and subtle practice for you to end the day with.
The Emotional Body Workshop
Emotions are stored in the body as a result of our samskaras. Quite often, this results in blockages in the body, limiting the flow of energy throughout. This workshop will present the theory behind this, preparing you for a practice of Emotional Release. This is a series of breathing techniques to music that will induce a meditative release. This is a powerful class and has been a huge emotional benefit to many of our students.
Chakra Manifestation
A journey down the chakra system, conceptualising how to visualise your goals and, using the subtle body, manifest them. This teaching will provide you with a framework to realise and achieve your goals at Kranti Yoga and beyond.
Journaling
This daily practice promotes an introspective journey to highlight specific milestones of our learning together. This module encourages daily reflection, allowing time to reflect upon how we embody or relate to each individual chakra. We also use this time to explore dream journaling and creative free writing.
