About this Retreat
After having worked for 30 years as a therapist, teacher hypnotherapy and personal development at the Academy for Naturopathy, counsellor at a high school and later as a meditation teacher, I ended up unexpectedly in Tanzania. My involvement and educative support of the Masaï in Ngorongoro, gradually moved to the start of Mindful Adventure in 2013. From there I invite people to the breathtaking “of the beaten track” areas in Tanzania where nature still is wild and pristine, where space is stretching endlessly and silence bringing your thoughts at rest. For me as a meditation teacher, these authentic surroundings are the perfect background to take you on an inward journey, to take everything that’s old and outdated out of your backpack and to fill it with a refreshing clarity and an inspiring look into the direction you want to go.
It is my mission to bring you in touch with the adventure that life is supposed to be. You have the ability of clarity, creativity, renewal, a deeper mission, free spirit but also liveliness and joyful nature, forming the base for an inspired life, where you are taking the lead over yourself in a powerful way, and inspiring others.
Within Mindful Adventure I have the opportunity to connect my love for spiritual clarity and sense of reality, my involvement with Masaï in Ngorongoro and my respect for pure nature to inspire others, who are on their way to rediscover themselves as free human beings.

Charlie Smith, also known as “Charlie Smiles”, is a storyteller whose life purpose is guiding people to their inner truth on the path of self-discovery. His own quests of self-discovery began at 19 years old, when he experienced a life-changing transformation through the practice of meditation.
He has over 20 years of experience in leading expeditions, teaching meditation, and energy healing. He was trained by Meditation Masters in Thailand, Guatemala, and the USA.
Charlie currently lives partly in Tanzania, partly in Colorado. He leads retreats and ceremonies internationally, and produces/directs documentary film projects.

Chimpanzee Tour Nature Travel
The remote Mahale with chimpanzees, Lake Tanganyika with its wonderful, deep blue water. Ruaha Wildlife Park with its breathtaking landscapes and richly stocked animal population, Katavi with a river full of gaping hippos, Mbeya surrounded with wonders of nature; a two-day hike in the Rungwi Mountains with stunning views; climbing to Kaporogwe waterfall; God’s bridge and more. In the evening camping in the bush or jungle or sharing a room in picturesque spots. And last but not least ending up in Zanzibar with its beach, swimming, snorkling and relaxing after an exciting, active trip.
Against the backdrop of all this natural beauty, we weave a coaching- and meditation program to restore and/or deepen our connection with ourselves. The wild nature in Tanzania helps us like nothing else. What are we going to discover?
Spiritual journey – Stress versus trust
At its core, the essence of your stress is a lack of trust in yourself, others and life. You are in conflict all day long with small and big events that “happen” to you. Your mind labels it usually as good or bad. Then you take the hatchet again. As soon as you start battling what life presents to you, you walk a path of unhappiness, flattening, and fatigue. The path to trust is accepting what presents itself. From there, you start or deepen to see that life is constantly supporting you on your path to more freedom and love. You don’t always get what you believe you want or need on this path towards more freedom. But wait patiently, let it happen and then the hidden treasure in your experiences will show itself.
During this chimpanzee tour we are going to support each other to notice, when we go into resistance. There is space for the good reasons for that resistance, only to see that it is no longer necessary and usually counterproductive to defend yourself against ………. Once trust in life is restored, we are ready to warmly welcome ourselves and nature outside of us and take good care of both.

On all our mindfulness safaris, our own cook Proches is cooking for us! In the morning he gets up early for delicious breakfasts with fresh fruits, toast, pancakes and eggs. For the afternoon we often get a lunch box. It is amazing what Proches can cook while being on safari for dinner!
