"I came to the retreat feeling disconnected from my path, having just been through a painful break up. I also had some fear about being in ritual meditation with people I had not yet met, wondering if I could feel the level of safety I need to do deep inner work.
As soon as I met the facilitation group and other participants I felt those feelings dissolve. What remained was pure connection, gratitude and excitement.
The Shanti Wasi team were so excellent on so many levels! I think most importantly, for me, was their ability to be both guides and equals in a space that can be at times vulnerable.
I left the retreat feeling clear and empowered for my path moving forward, a far cry from the grief and fear that I carried into the retreat.
This group are really holding something unique and I feel blessed to have received their support and playful generosity.
If you feel called to journey inward in this style of ritual, I can recommend the respect and reverence to the lineage that this team has cultivated over many years.
Much love and respect."

Experiences on Retreat
"I, Bianca, was in the same workshop as the lady who wrote the review on April 24, 2024. When I read this, I felt the need to share my impressions of the encounter with her and also to clarify, how safe and professional this center is.
On the very first day, she told me and probably also some other guests that she had lied during the info pre-call with the Pandorita team. She had been rejected by several Ayahuasca centers and had therefore lied about her psychological state of health during the call in order to avoid being rejected again. In addition, the way she was acting during the first two days weren‘t really introspective, but more like she just wanted to „have a good time“. She also kept bringing up her desires for possible sexual encounters during the retreat, eventough this is a complete no-go whilst working with the medicine and participants are asked to adhere to this rule such as other safety precautions like not taking medications etc. She joked about starting an Ayahuasca Sex Cult there.. When her second ceremony didn‘t go like she wanted, she started blaming the shamans, that they are illiterate people and that they are no doctors.. Some of the things she said seemed quite racist to me.. I felt that she - eventough she wanted to try the medicine - was not ready to face the depths, shadows and fears the medicine can bring up and experienced a panic attack or just was in extreme fight- and flight-mode.
Also from my point of view, the facilitators took great care of her and did everything possible to make her feel safe, they tried to talk her down also the morning after, all whilst also being very considerate towards the rest of the group and asking us how we were doing after her outburst and making sure that we also felt safe and being cared for.
Her journey back was organized for her after having had mutiple discussions also with the professionally trained medical doctor of the retreat who was not on site but on call in Switzerland.
Once she left, the energy shifted and we all could dive deeper into our processes and just focus on what we came here for. Everything happens for a reason and I am sure Grandmother Ayahuasca had orchastrated this exact situation for all of us.
When it comes to my own experience on Pandorita, I had the most magical, healing and beautiful time ever. Not saying that it was not hard, but after having studied the information on the website and the information call with the kind hearted spirit that is Marco, I knew what I was letting myself in for and that this was the exact right place to heal and at the same time be surrounded by paradise. Before the first ceremony we were also thoroughly briefed on site. I knew about the symptoms to expect when taking MAO inhibitors, such as dizziness, agitation, hot or cold flashes, increased blood pressure or a pounding heart. In addition, after the first ceremony, the dose for the next ceremony was determined in consultation with each guest. The shamans were extremely powerful and highly skilled masters of the medicine and knew exactly how to treat each and every one of us.
I could not have had a more perfect first Ayahuasca Retreat and have to give it 5 stars plus!
The workshop was a deeply impactful experience and helped me a lot for my physical and mental health and also when it comes to my spiritual development. The ocean, the jungle and the wildlife are breathtaking, the Shipibo shamans are loving healing artists from an ancient tradition with magical icaros, and the facilitators are kind-hearted, devoted souls with a lot of experience. The massages, yoga sessions and food all complimented this amazing work with ayahuasca. It had inspired me to dive even deeper into the medicine that I ended up going to Peru and do a dieta and have ever since regularly partaken in more Ayahuasca ceremonies. Whenever I have the possibility again I will definitely come back to this beautiful sacred paradise!
Thank you for everything Pandorita!"
"While many reviews paint a perfect picture, I wanted to offer a more nuanced perspective on my experience at Soltara.
Soltara's Strengths
Professionalism and Experience: Soltara has a professional operation going, and it’s clear they’ve been doing this for awhile. There is a big team at the retreat center handling everything: food, facilitation, security, grounds keeping, etc… Overall coordination + planning was flawless. The ceremonies themselves were deeply thought through and it’s hard to think of what they could have done better.
Authentic Shipibo Practices: Soltara excels at preserving the traditional elements of Shipibo shamanism. It felt genuine and fascinating to be part of these practices.
Delicious Food: The food throughout the retreat was awesome.
Dietary Guidance: Soltara provided clear instructions and support regarding the pre-retreat dieta (dietary restrictions). The commitment from participants to the dieta was commendable.
Life-Changing Experiences: Witnessing the positive transformations of others was truly inspiring.
Comfortable setting: Modern, air-conditioned rooms, beautiful views, access to the beach.
Cons / areas for Improvement
Dry Season Ambiance: Playa Blanca during dry season does NOT look like the photos. In reality, the majority of the trees are barren. There are small fires around, and frequently the air smells smokey. At night, the atmosphere felt spooky to me (sort of nightmare-before-christmas-esque). If I was to come back, I would definitely do so during wet season!
Expectation of aligned worldview: If you’re not totally convinced that plants have spirits, and are uncomfortable saying ‘mother ayahuasca’, Soltara might not be the best fit. This vocabulary and worldview is pervasive here, and alternative views are not really mentioned. To be fair, it is an ayahuasca retreat, so I suppose much of this is to be expected, but it seemed to me that there was also a healthy dose of new-age spirituality inserted, which I have an aversion to. I thus had a hard time totally trusting the facilitators, which is a vital element of any psychedelic experience, and consequentially contributed to a feeling of not feeling totally safe. To be fair, much of that is my own problem. At no point was I genuinely in danger during the retreat, and the facilitators were there for me if I needed them.
Limited Pre-Retreat & Integration Support: An opportunity to meet fellow participants and facilitators beforehand would have been beneficial. Integration support felt somewhat lacking, with only a workbook and optional integration circles offered.
Group Size and Programming: Our group of 21 participated in all activities as a single unit. More small group interaction and additional programming outside of meals, ceremonies, and daily meetings could enhance the experience.
In Conclusion
Soltara excels at providing a well-run, authentic Shipibo-style Ayahuasca experience with modern conveniences. However, manage your expectations regarding the dry season environment and the prevalence of new-age spirituality. If these aspects align with your preferences, Soltara is an excellent choice"
"Words can't describe how phenomenal this was. Firstly, I was amazed at how kind, strong, and open minded my fellow attendees were. Great friendships were forged, and I'll be keeping in touch with and visiting many of them. The facilitators and staff were so professional and ready for any situation that emerged during the ceremonies. Whatever they are making, it isn't enough! Personally the emotional support that I received from these people during and outside of the ceremonies was lifesaving, and it got me through some very difficult moments. On top of that, the Shipibo healers themselves were incredible. I've never met people with the kind of unconditional loving energy that they displayed, and the work that they performed on us at each ceremony was profound, mystical and wonderful. The energy of the songs that they sung to us was powerful. Finally, the food served at every meal was out of this world! Fresh organic tropical fruits I had never tried, chia seed pudding, guacamole, hummus, mini omelettes, etc. I miss it all! I have come back home with a new love for myself and the people in my life. Soltara is well worth the money, and I hope to go back again."
"When deciding it was my time to sit with plant medicine for the first time, admittingly still nervous, I knew that I wanted to attend a retreat that was not only well rated online but one that was recommended from a friend who had experienced it before. My friend without any hesitation recommended that I attend the Shanti Wasi retreat in the deep jungle of Costa Rica, and that night I sent in my registration for what would be an experience hard to put into words just 4 months later. The team at Shanti was incredibly warm, intentional, and accommodating weeks and days even leading up to the retreat, available to answer any questions I had. This just validated again and again my need for this level of attentiveness and support experiencing such an impactful journey for the first time. The retreat center was off the grid, deep in the Osa Peninsula, and beautifully immersed in the Costa Rica jungle, with monkey's swinging in the endless types of tall trees over us, macaws circling the area like they were protecting its visitors. Ocean waves crashing in the background of every deep conversation. The ceremonial activities were beautifully curated for a safe, intimate experience with some of the most touching music I've ever experienced live. Not once did I waver in my thought we in this large group were not being well cared for and permitted to be safe to explore the depths of this incredible medicine. From the communal meals to the integration circles to the 1:1 conversations by the water, this retreat was designed for human connection. It was designed for shared experiences, for holding space, and for allowing others to hold space for you. If you are ready to experience sitting with plant medicine for the first time or the 20th, you will not be spared any level of hospitality, safety, and love - I highly recommend Shanti Wasi in Costa Rica and so honored and excited to return myself. "
"I’m so glad I did this. It was exactly what I needed to get out of this negative space I’ve been stuck in for too long. I’m forever grateful and can’t wait to return in the future one day. Thank you!!!"
"July 2023, I left on Day 4 of my 11-day retreat after surviving the most frightening night of my life.
In the second ceremony, the Shaman doubled my dose from the night before. I knew I was in trouble because I heard my higher self clearly say, that if I didn’t get out, I would die. Physically I was having trouble breathing, I was too hot, my mouth was too dry. I was dehydrated. They told us to stop drinking at 3 pm and it was well past 8 pm, around 90 degrees with what felt like, 100% humidity.
I called Gigi over and told her I needed help getting out, but she tried to talk me into staying even though earlier they said we could leave. I knew I needed out, so I called Aum over. I couldn’t walk by myself.
He and someone else helped me out, I could barely walk and then collapsed outside the building. They surrounded me and I begged them to give me space, as I couldn’t breathe. They also blew essential oils in my face which I told them I didn’t consent to as I couldn’t breathe! I begged for a doctor, and they offered the sweet man who was a doctor in acupuncture, but I asked for a medical doctor. Pandorita is too remote and couldn’t get medical help for me. I begged them to call my emergency contact, which they didn’t because they didn’t have his number on file.
So I knelt in the grass, falling in and out of consciousness because they had given me too much of the “medicine.” I begged them to keep the ants from biting me because I couldn’t brush them off my body myself.
They didn’t give me first aid other than Aum checking my pulse. They didn’t offer coconut water to rehydrate me or even walk me to the showers to cool me down. I wanted an oxygen mask and a saline drip, and of course, they didn’t have that.
I was just there suffering, struggling to breathe, hoping I wouldn’t die.
5 am the next morning, not remembering how I got there, I woke up in my bed, alone, still high. I slowly struggled to get to the bathroom which was about 100 yards from the campsite. Then made my way down to the kitchen, through WIFI, and called my emergency contact. He coached me how to take care of myself. Get water. Find food to raise my blood sugar.
Afterward, I finally had the strength to make my way up the hill to where Gigi, Aum, and Montserrat slept. I was beyond angry. I wouldn’t go inside. I expected that I would be kept safe, not that I would have to beg for them to take care of me while they tried to intuit how to help.
Never ONCE did they think that I might be having a medical emergency. And they were high, too. Although Aum claimed he hadn’t partaken. Gigi admittedly did.
I never had asthma before, but I have had it ever since, and only recently when after months of having a cough that wouldn’t go away, I went to a specialist who confirmed that the ceremony with the ayahuasca plus tobacco was the initial triggering event.
My lungs may be forever damaged.
And never mind the mental damage of doing such strong psychedelics and then having to leave in the way I did without anyone to process it with me. I was so lost when I came back to the United States.
And Pandorita did not offer a refund. They paid for one night in a hotel in Santa Jimenez and the difference in changing my flights. Marco’s words still echo in my ears, “You were the one who wanted to do ayahuasca.” I was. I did, I had for years since I heard what a remarkable and healing experience it was. I did all my research much like anyone who is reading my review.
I expected that I would be safe and I was not. Nothing that I experienced was what I had read about. And I am sad about it all. I wanted it to be great, and I nearly lost my life.
Ayahuasca is unregulated. There is no legal recourse. There are no safety standards. And if you have a bad experience, there’s a lot of victim blaming and shame associated surrounding your negative experience. Everyone talks about their great experiences, but you’re pretty much shamed into silence if you don’t have a good one.

"I just returned home after my second retreat with Soltara at Playa Blanca in Costa Rica. I did a ton of research starting over a year ago before I booked my first retreat with them in June 2023. It was an amazing experience, and I left knowing that I had more work to do and would be back. I scheduled my second retreat with them for April 2024 and it was the most healing and transformative experience of my life. The staff and the facilitators are top-tier. If you are looking for the perfect setting for your healing Ayahuasca journey, you have found it with Soltara. I cannot recommend them highly enough. They have amazing facilitators, staff, chef and food, yoga and rooms. The staff builds such a safe and intentional container for this important work. It makes ALL the difference. They also have after care support and other resources available for pre and post retreat. Which has been super helpful. Happy journeying "
"Awesome."
"I took a great deal of time selecting the location and retreat centre I was going to do my healing with. From start to finish Soltara in Costa Rica stood out and delivered. Everything was simply incredible. The location, the food, the staff, the workers, the accommodations, everything. I look for to telling everyone about this place. Simply magical. Already looking forward to my return."
"Place is amazing"
"My experience at Soltara was truly amazing. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, located on a private property in the jungles of Costa Rica. You will get the chance to connect to nature through walks on the beach, swimming in the ocean, hiking trails and being exposed to wildlife. The grounds crew and cleaning staff do an excellent job of keeping Soltara in immaculate condition. THE FOOD! Delicious, organic, healthy meals every day. So delicious! And for me, the most important part of the experience was the facilitators. They are were the most caring, compassionate, present, skilled, knowledgeable, beautiful people I have ever been around. I could go on and on with qualities they possess. They’ve done the hard work to get there and it shows. I have immense gratitude and admiration for them. Words do not do this experience justice. You have to go through it to really know. If you feel the call, go for it! You won’t be disappointed. "
"I attended the 4 ceremony retreat in Playa Blanca and it was exceptional!
Great environment, knowledgeable facilitators, and yummy food. Highly recommend this life changing experience with Soltara."
"Compassion and a deep commitment to the healing process were evident in all aspects of the Soltara retreat I attended. So was the effort to support a highly individualized and deeply personal journey. I am so happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to attend a Soltara retreat."
"My experience at Soltara was wonderful. The staff, facilitators, accommodations, food, surroundings, and total experience was more than I expected. I wouldn't hesitate to come back again if given the opportunity. Thank you!"
"I came to SoulCentro with questions, and I left with answers. A profoundly powerful and life-changing experience. I feel immense gratitude to Elizabeth and Chor for sharing their open hearts, wise minds and deep commitment to Bwiti at this idyllic setting. I will always cherish my time with them at a pivotal time in my life. "
"This was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. I don’t want to taint anyone’s experience with mine. Just know that you will be taken care of, and the return on the investment is more then any I have ever made elsewhere.
Blessings 🤍"
"Absolutely amazing - super safe space, brilliant, caring & dedicated faciltiators, amazing maestros. Cannot recommend this highly enough if you are looking for an authentic and deep healing experience. We have done more than 30 ceremonies in different locations across Peru and Costa Rica and keep coming back to Soltara as our best experience. "
"THIS PLACE COULD NOT BE BETTER IN ALMOST ALL WAYS! Instead of leaving a review I'll just post my group message to my new lifelong friends that I posted on our WhatsApp group chat......
As I bid farewell to Costa Rica, my heart is overflowing with gratitude for the extraordinary journey we've shared. Looking back on our time at Soltara, I'm deeply moved by the truly transformative impact it's had on me. As I sit here on this plane, I can't help but feel a profound shift in my mindset and energy—a clear indication of the deep connections we've formed with both the plant medicine and each other.
Our diverse backgrounds melted away, revealing a genuine human family bound by our shared experiences and the incredible power of human connection. The memories we've etched into our collective experience will forever be etched in my heart, serving as a beautiful reminder of humanity's beauty and the strength found in coming together while experiencing the sacred medicine.
The Ayahuasca experience was truly profound, offering insights and revelations that touched the very core of my being. The melodies of the Icaros sung by our Maestros were incredibly moving, like whispers from another realm that resonated deep within us, unlocking hidden chambers of our consciousness. And the medicine itself, with its cosmic wisdom and healing properties, gently guided us on a journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening that I will always treasure
I want to express my deepest appreciation to each and every one of you for your kindness, support, and companionship on this cosmic journey we've embarked upon together. Through this experience, I've delved into the depths of my soul and its connection to the mysteries I may not fully comprehend, yet wholeheartedly believe in. The lessons learned and the love shared among us will always be woven into the fabric of my being.
As we part ways, please know that each of you holds a special place in my heart, and I am forever grateful for the precious gift of our time together. May our paths cross again, and may we continue to cherish and apply the wisdom bestowed upon us by Mother Ayahuasca, uplifting and inspiring ourselves and those around us on our unique journeys through life. With love and heartfelt gratitude, Stephen. 🌟🌿🙏"
"Absolutely a life changing experience! Shanti Wasi crew and hosts Jim & Trisha are amazing. Everyone was so kind and welcoming!
I felt like we were a family the whole time.
It was kind of sad to leave.
I will be back! ;-)
The Ojo Del Mar property is also a sight to be desired! Look no further my friends!

"Cannot say enough, and of course words fall short. Everything about this retreat exceeded expectations - superb facilitation team (thank you Nick, Viviana and Stephania!), wonderful medicine team/Maestras, gorgeous setting, healthy and delicious food, lots of info on preparation and integration, ample opportunity for 1 on 1 guidance with staff (and ample time sharing with other attendees), and a very safe, secure environment in general, which is so essential to this kind of work.
The experience (the journeys themselves) were exquisite, tho sometimes hard, and I can't begin to capture the detail here. But I will say that every fellow attendee at our retreat had a profound, moving and highly impactful experience. "
"The entire experience at Soltara exceeded my expectations.
The resort itself and rooms were beautiful, with an exceptional view & plenty of quiet, private spaces.
The food was outstanding, with a wide variety of fresh options. I felt over fed most of the days, and well hydrated with a variety of fresh juices daily.
The facilitators made you feel safe, and were knowledgeable in all aspects of the ceremony, and maintained a trusting environment where you felt comfortable talking to them about anything and everything. They were so supportive, both during ceremonies & during down time.
Tati, the yoga instructor, was magical, and had a special gift of bringing us into a calm relaxed state before each ceremony.
This was my first retreat, and nothing could have fully prepared me for the actual ceremonies. There are not words to describe the depth of emotion that surfaced. The entire experience was life changing. The Maestro/Maestra had such a strong, and balanced presence.
And the Ayahuasca, the medicine, completely shifted the lens through which I see the world.
I am forever grateful, and look forward to next time!"
"I researched ayahuasca retreats to death before selecting Soltara. Naturally, as this was my first time, I was fairly nervous and cautious.
All my fears were laid to rest. Everything about Soltara, and I mean everything, was on point. The location was stunning, the rooms immaculate, clean and comfortable, the food was outstanding. The staff were knowledgeable, approachable and genuinely interested in making sure you had the best experience you possibly could.
The ceremonies were out of this world. They made sure we started with a small dose so we could get comfortable, and then we could increase it as we felt we needed. The Shipibo guides were unbelievable.
My experience here changed my life. And I know it was like this for everyone else as well. I can’t speak highly enough of Soltara."
"To everyone who is reading this, if there is a point in life, and even if there is not, and you seem everything is OK, Retreat with Soltara in Peru is something everyone wants to discover his or her real self should experience. But also, if you’re facing therapist struggles like addictions anxieties or physical neuroplastic, pain, problems, chronicle, pain, or psychological issues. This is the answer. You need to bring a portion of strength and you need to be brave because this journey is not a comfortable holiday. This journey is to yourself and the deeply healing and cleansing one. And everything cleans out on that journey will not bite you later in your life with health issues you don’t even think of at the moment.
I’ve been through very hard times there, but the team accommodated that and by the team, I specifically want to name Nick , Vivian, Stefania, you will be safe you will be in best hands with warm hearted, loving, caring, humble, and diligent highly educated people who have designated themselves to holistic health, and the power of this ancient knowledge and medicine.
Of course, mistress are incredible, powerful and traveling all the way from the jungle to The Retreat to help us and to share this knowledge.
It’s hard to describe, or it’s impossible to describe what we all in this lovely group have learned have been through and were able to strengthen ourselves for the time after.
If there will be a six star, I would give it, so please be assured that you are in the best hands with the most amazing medicine and the most wonderful environment with fantastic food if you would decide to challenge and at the same time, heal yourself with Ayahuaska. "
"I can’t describe the journey in words! But here is a short summary:
Amazing destination ( Sacred Valley)
Amazing Team with professional knowledge Organisation, experiences and warm hearted care 24/7
Overwhelming and healing ceremonies with loving Maestras
Special thanks to Vivian, Stefania and. Nik and the two wonderful, caring and warmhearted Maestras!
Also thx to the lovely Owner and team of Raices Inkas
It felt like a loving family!!

"For me, Elizabeth and Chor were the Exact people that I needed to work with to tackle the jungle of entities I walked in with. I didn't know that going in, but my ancestors did, for a fact. Thank you for letting/helping me SURRENDER and get ugly, get cleaned up, and get ready to give this life another go.
Let go of expectations, notions around ‘retreat’ or even ‘psychedelic’ as mainstreamed in the west. This is far from a place of comfort and ease, it is ancient surgery - exactly what I needed in order to be shaken out of the burdens, lies, trauma that are not mine to pet if I sincerely want to live my life fully. Nima Gnyangou and Mbeye held me with profound groundedness, while I tantrumed and tested them in my most vulnerable state where everything I thought I knew, studied for a decade became a figment of my imagination! At one point, the only thing real, was everything I learned to hide since birth. Iboga yanked the truth out of me! By the 5th day, I was iterating a mantra I never imagined I’d say out loud w full conviction, “I love my life” Iboga yanked the truth out of me!!!
If you are a control freak in complete denial like me, seemingly well-contained, compartmentalized, aka betraying your chance at life by striving to keep up with modernity, please consider this unplug. Thank You forever, Iboga."
"I don't know where to begin. First I want to thank the Medicine for calling me to this place. It did for me what I could not do for myself. Everyone from the folks in the kitchen to the house keeping staff and the facilitators are all wonderful people that made me feel so welcome and appreciated. The area is absolutely beautiful and peaceful, the food is healing in itself and the facilitators are completely off the chart with their knowledge and compassion for each of us that where there. I can't put into words what happened to me other than it was a miracle. "
"When considering plant medicine and going on an ayahuasca journey you should really take into account the environment and having a safe place for your journey. Soltara will provide just that. A warm and friendly staff to help guide you every step of the way. The place is well organized and runs smoothly. The food is delicious and the accommodations are spot on. I stayed in the Eco Tamboo and I loved the rustic feel in the jungle. It cooled down at night and I was so comfortable. I highly recommend Soltara to anyone. "
"My first experience with ayahuasca was everything I anticipated to be and more thanks to the professional individual approach at Soltara Healing Centre in Sacred Valley Peru.
I have first heard of ayahuasca around 10 years ago and been fortunate enough to be called at the end of last year.
Soltara retreat was recommended to me by a previous customer for its excellent and efficient approach to the ayahuasca facilitation as well as an exceptional retreat vetting and organisation procedures.
I would certainly recommend Soltara for those looking to try ayahuasca for the first time as well as those who have experienced ayahuasca previously.
The facilitators Bonnie, Frida, Robert and a dedicated and talented Yoga instructor Claire. as well as Maestros Noe and Marin provided me and the group with an exceptional experience with their immaculate attention to each group member’s needs, wishes and healing requirements.
I would like to especially thank Bonnie who made me feel at ease and comforted and guided me in times of vulnerability as if she was a close member of my family.
I am eternally grateful for a life changing experience that Soltara has provided me with and will be returning in the future should the need for ayahuasca healing arise.
Thank you. 🙏🏻✨❤️"
