About this Retreat

Details of this retreat

This is a small, carefully held trauma-informed retreat for women who feel worn down, overwhelmed, or stretched thin — and who need time away to settle, reflect, and be supported without having to explain or perform.

The retreat takes place at San Flaviano, a former monastery in the Umbrian mountains, and is limited to a maximum of five women, allowing space, privacy, and personal attention. The pace is gentle and responsive, shaped around what the nervous system can tolerate rather than what it is expected to achieve.

The retreat is led by Tess Hunneybell, a British trauma psychotherapist, alongside her trusted onsite team. The work is held through a combination of individual therapeutic sessions and group teaching that supports and integrates the therapeutic process. Tess and her team are onsite each day from 08.00 to 21.00, offering sustained, relational presence throughout the retreat.

Personal therapeutic work is held individually, with space for one-to-one attention where experiences can be explored with care, attunement, and appropriate pacing. Within the group, there is no expectation to share personal history or speak about private experiences. Shared time is used for learning, orientation, reflection, and being together, without pressure to disclose or explain yourself.

Days unfold simply, with a balance of focused work, rest, time outdoors, and shared meals. Everything practical is quietly taken care of around you, so you can lean out of effort and turn your attention inward.

This work is not about fixing or pushing through. It offers steadiness, safety, and space — so something can begin to settle in its own time.
