About this Retreat
Dr. Cady serves as the director of the Center for Interfaith Dialogue at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan. She recently joined Emanu-El from New York University, where she worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Religious Studies. She completed her PhD in Religion at Princeton University in 2022, where she focused on material culture, literature, and intellectual history. Her interests include the rise of the cult of saints in early Christianity, Jewish-Christian relations in the late Roman Empire, and the study of art and iconography in synagogues and basilicas across the Mediterranean. At Temple Emanu-El, Dr. Cady dedicates herself to leading interfaith dialogue groups, organizing community events, and lecturing on religious traditions. She hails from the rainy woods of Portland, Oregon, where she spent her time hiking, caffeinating, and curling up with a good book. After long stints in Minnesota and New Jersey, Dr. Cady has relocated to New York where she has explored the hustle and bustle of the city, as well as the highs and lows of being a burgeoning Mets fan. She is thrilled to be a part of such a lively and welcoming community, and looks forward to building the Center for Interfaith Dialogue for years to come.

Details of this retreat
Join us for a restorative week of conversation and spiritual renewal, sponsored by the Center for Interfaith Dialogue at Temple Emanu-El, Manhattan. We seek to foster an inclusive, welcoming getaway in which members of all faith traditions may engage in meaningful dialogue while enjoying the therapeutic setting of the Menla Resort and Spa.
Led by experts in the field, our morning seminars will explore such topics as Tibetan Buddhism, common themes in global religions, and spiritual practice in the modern era. A wide array of optional yoga, meditation, and Qi gong classes will be offered daily for those wishing to integrate mind and body in an accessible and supportive environment. With the afternoons free, participants can take full advantage of the natural splendor of the Catskills, luxuriate at the spa, or strengthen emerging relationships with those of different faiths.
At the Center for Interfaith Dialogue at Temple Emanu-El, we strive to offer programming that is as open and inclusive as possible. To that end, it is our privilege to support the cost of tuition for the duration of the retreat – registrants need cover only their own lodging and travel. We hope that you will return home from our Interfaith Wellness Retreat with a stronger and more expansive community, as well as a greater sense of peace in the modern world. Whether you are a cleric, a lay practitioner, or a secular person seeking a respite from city-life, all are welcome to join the conversation with us this July!
