Details of this retreat

We are honored to have Gretchen Donovan of San Diego back as a guest teacher at Ratna Ling! Choose a 2 or 3-night option.
What if you could use your anger wisely? What if you could make friends with anger?
This weekend retreat offers a supportive space to explore the nature of anger through meditation, gentle yoga, and subtle energy movement, all grounded in Buddhist philosophy. Anger is considered one of the mind’s poisons—an experience that can cloud perception, harden the heart, and obscure joy, like a veil of dark smoke. Through mindful inquiry and embodied practice, we will explore how meeting anger with understanding rather than resistance allows it to be transformed into wisdom.
The retreat will include seated meditation, gentle and accessible yoga, and subtle energy practices designed to soften the body, calm the nervous system, and cultivate clarity. In addition, there will be two guided sessions of Feeding Your Demons, the Five-Step Process created by Lama Tsultrim Allione. In this tradition, a “demon” is understood as anything that obstructs the achievement of freedom. As Lama Tsultrim teaches, there is no greater devil than fixation on a solid self; until this ego-fixation is severed, all other demons wait with open mouths. Through this skillful method, participants are invited to meet inner obstacles with compassion, awareness, and courage, opening the way toward greater freedom, insight, and joy.
**Optional Thursday arrival: intimate gathering of community, walking the grounds, morning meditation and poetry reading.

Excellent 😊
Ratna Ling is a beautiful retreat center with excellent staff, accommodations and food. The spiritual atmosphere is calming and inspiring.
Clare Buckley is my favorite yoga teacher. She offers gentle yoga in her own creative way. She never repeats a session, each one is unique. A bit of meditation, a lot of smiles and laughter and always beautiful surprises to delight you. She has a very generous spirit.
A winning combination!

Beautiful and comfortable
Ratna Ling is a perfect setting for a retreat. The accommodations are comfortable and spacious. The food was delicious and plentiful. My only disappointment was the lemon bars; why vegan? The food is vegetarian with plenty of cheese, butter, and eggs present. Sure, there were some vegan options alongside, but no need to destroy lemon bars in such a tragic way :( you can surely offer up fruit as a vegan pairing. Lost a star in that move.

Spring Awakening
The retreat with yoga teacher Clare was superb. There was nothing lacking. I have been to Ratna Ling before and had the same sense of calm and joy I experienced the last time I was there 15 years ago. Being in this beautiful environment has balanced me so I am more able to cope with some of the tragedies occurring in the world today. .
