Tawnya G. CCRN

Tawnya Gilbert, a US-trained and licensed RN/CCRN, is also an Integration Specialist and the host of the Eleusinia Podcast. With 16 years of experience in intensive and postoperative care nursing, she transitioned from traditional nursing to explore more comprehensive, holistic, and client-centered approaches. In 2021, Tawnya began her studies as a Psychedelic Integration Guide with Fluence. She is dedicated to empowering guests at Eleusinia Retreat, providing personalized support and guidance for integrating their unique experiences. Tawnya employs creative modalities to deepen personal understanding, particularly in non-ordinary states, and is passionate about the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of medically supervised psilocybin integrative care.

Dr.Roger Quiroz MD

Dr. Rogelio Quiroz, M.D., is a licensed family medicine practitioner who brings a unique perspective to the medical field by combining traditional medical practices with a keen interest in the application of psychedelic therapy for the well-being and health of his patients. As an integral member of the Eleusinia team, Dr. Quiroz plays a crucial role in providing dedicated medical support and guidance to ensure a comfortable and safe retreat experience for visitors. His commitment to the holistic approach to healthcare is reflected in his role as the on-call MD for the retreat, where he offers a range of medical services and guidance, aiming to provide visitors with peace of mind throughout their Eleusinia Retreat journey. A graduate of Anáhuac University Medical School in Mexico City, Dr. Quiroz brings a wealth of medical knowledge and expertise to his medical practice. Beyond his contributions to Eleusinia, he serves as the medical director of the Con Salud clinic located in Valle de Bravo, Mexico. In this role, Dr. Quiroz continues to positively impact the health and well-being of the local community, showcasing his dedication to the field of medicine and his commitment to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to those he serves.

Josefina Maza

Josefina Maza, a gifted curandera, carries a rich ancestral heritage hailing from Oaxaca, Mexico. Growing up in Cozumel, QRoo, she is the descendant of Mixtecos/Zapotecos and Mayan indígenas, renowned for their traditional healing practices, herbal wisdom, and sobadores. Following a challenging period marked by the loss of her mother, Josefina temporarily distanced herself from her lineage and immersed herself in the corporate world. For over two years, she has devoted herself to the path of healing, serving as a spiritual guide at Eleusinia. Josefina compassionately supports individuals in their journeys, providing solace and relief from physical chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and addictions through the ancient wisdom of ancestral medicine.

Frank Pepe PA

Frank P. is a seasoned Physician Assistant with over 20 years of experience in emergency medicine. His expertise extends beyond the clinical realm, as he is deeply engaged in the ongoing study of the neurobiology, pharmacology, and psychology of psychedelic medicines. Frank combines his professional knowledge with personal experience, making him a valuable resource in the integration of these powerful healing tools. In addition to his medical practice, Frank is committed to long-standing mindfulness practices, including meditation, breathwork, tai chi, and journaling. His holistic approach to health and wellness is complemented by his love for the outdoors. Ana Karen Lopez graduated from Universidad Anáhuac México Norte in 2020. She holds diplomas in crisis intervention, emotional management, and non-verbal communication. Currently, she is pursuing a master’s degree in cognitive behavioral therapy, enhancing her understanding of thought processes and emotional regulation. At Eleusinia, Ana Karen offers profound reflection sessions, emotional guidance, and support, helping participants to focus on the present moment and maximize their experience. Her expertise aids in integrating the retreat’s insights, fostering new perspectives and emotional balance. In addition to her contributions at Eleusinia, Ana Karen runs an integral clinic in Valle de Bravo, positively impacting the local population. Schedule

Day 1 — Arrival, Orientation & Preparation
Guests arrive in the early afternoon at Eleusinia’s private retreat center in Valle de Bravo and are welcomed by our multidisciplinary team. After settling in with refreshments, each guest completes a private medical intake followed by an individual meeting with our Curandera (traditional healer), who offers a cultural blessing to open the retreat.
The afternoon includes a guided tour of the grounds and facilities, a personalized biomechanical mobility intake with Eleusinia’s Mind–Body Integration Specialist, and orientation sessions covering psychedelic neuroscience, safety and dosing, preparation strategies, and what to expect during macrodose experiences. The day concludes with a relaxed group dinner.

Day 2 — First Psilocybin Macrodose
The morning begins with guidance on navigating altered states, followed by breathwork, meditation, somatic awareness, and gentle biomechanical movement to calm the nervous system and prepare the body for psychedelic processing.
The macrodose begins together in The Nest before unfolding into individualized journeys across the gardens and retreat spaces. Guests explore thoughtfully designed stations including hammocks, private alcoves, cocooned seating, and indoor areas with expansive vistas, supported at a 1:2 facilitator ratio using neuroscience-based grounding and emotional regulation techniques. The experience lasts approximately 4–6 hours, followed by dinner, journaling, and informal reflection around cozy fireplaces.

Day 3 — DMT, Integration & Somatic Regulation
After breakfast, guests begin private DMT sessions supported by two facilitators, alongside their one-on-one integration sessions with either a psychotherapist or psychedelic integration specialist. These sessions translate experiences into actionable insight and behavioral change.
The afternoon includes nervous-system–informed breathwork and somatic practices to deepen mindfulness and support physical integration. The evening includes our Mushroom Cultivation class followed by group dinner.

Day 4 — Bodywork, Integration & Sensory Awareness
This midpoint day focuses on physical decompression and embodied integration. Guests participate in creative writing, continued integration sessions, optional meetings with the Curandera, and receive a one-hour massage included with the retreat.
Optional structural integration bodywork supports posture, fascia, and chronic pain patterns. Somatic practices help release stored tension, while nature walks or seasonal mushroom foraging deepen sensory awareness.
The evening features the second part of the Mushroom Cultivation class followed by a blindfolded dinner, a powerful sensory exploration highlighting perceptual changes from psychedelic work.

Day 5 — DMT Exploration & Temazcal
The day begins with a DMT extraction workshop that guests may choose to opt into, followed by breakfast.
Guests then take the day to explore independent or supported DMT sessions in their favorite garden spaces. Integration sessions and optional structural bodywork continue throughout the day.
In the afternoon, guests participate in a traditional Temazcal (sweat lodge) ceremony, offering physical relaxation, introspection, and communal support in preparation for the second macrodose.

Day 6 — Second Psilocybin Macrodose
The second macrodose is personalized based on each guest’s first experience. Medical consultations refine dosing and comfort measures, while morning breathwork, movement, and meditation revisit navigation tools.
This session supports deeper psychological processing and more active application of self-regulation skills. The evening is intentionally quiet for rest and reflection.

Day 7 — Personalized DMT, Minidose & Closing Ceremony
Guests enjoy a flexible morning with optional excursions, additional bodywork, journaling, or nature time. DMT Extraction class participants may explore independent DMT sessions again.
The minidose begins with a silent forest hike followed by guided breathwork and deep psychedelic meditation. Dinner is celebratory, featuring playful psychedelic trivia.
The retreat concludes with a cacao ceremony, a closing gathering for reflection, integration, and honoring each guest’s journey.

Day 8 — Departure & Transition Home
After a final group breakfast and optional poetry sharing, guests return to Mexico City for onward travel.
Guests leave with embodied insight, practical integration tools, and continued access to Eleusinia’s online community and weekly integration circles.

Directions

To get to Eleusinia, you will need to fly into Mexico City. Our Mercedes Sprinter van picks up our groups at 12:30pm on the start date of the retreat from the airport Courtyard Marriott that is connected to the terminal via skybridge.

Accommodation

Our rooms are fully private and feature either one king or two queen beds. Each room is priced at single occupancy and you may add a second participant to your booking for an additional charge of $3650.

Enoki Room

Premium ground-floor room with a picturesque garden view, a luxurious king bed, a charming cast iron wood-burning fireplace, and a spacious private bathroom in the east wing. Enoki is named after the popular Asian edible mushroom.

Russula Room

Premium second floor room offering a picturesque garden view, a luxurious king bed, seating area, and a spacious private bathroom. Situated in the west wing, Russsula is named after a genus of colorful mushrooms often foraged in the vicinity. Russula is accessed by a charming narrow spiral staircase, so it is suited for those without mobility challenges.

Maitake Room

Standard ground-floor room featuring two double beds, a cast iron wood-burning fireplace, and a snug private bathroom. Maitake is situated in the west wing and is named after the popular edible mushroom also known as hen-of-the-woods.

Ramaria Room

Premium ground-floor room offering a picturesque garden view, a luxurious king bed, seating area, a charming cast iron wood-burning fireplace, and a spacious private bathroom. Situated in the east wing, Ramaria is named after a genus of coral mushrooms often foraged in the vicinity.

Reishi Room

Premium room with a queen bed, cast iron fireplace, and a cozy private bathroom on the ground floor of the east wing. Named after the shiny red mushroom popular in medicinal tinctures, Reishi offers a tranquil retreat.

Morel Room

Premium ground-floor room offering a captivating garden view, a sumptuous king bed, a charming cast iron wood-burning fireplace, and a spacious private bathroom. Nestled in the east wing, Morel is named after the renowned gourmet mushroom frequently foraged in the area.

Shiitake Room

Simply the best psychedelic retreat.

I’ve been to Eleusinia 3 times now, and I just love everything about it. Jess & Jay have created the best container to have a psychedelic experience. Their knowledge is outstanding, the classes they provide are detailed, the breathwork and meditation sessions are amazing, the Temazcal experience is wonderful, and the food is absolutely top notch.

I’ve been to other retreats, but I keep coming back to Eleusinia because it feels like a home away from home. I love everyone there: Jess, Jay, Josefina, Emilio, Tonya, Andrew, Frank, Ari, and the rest of the staff. They are supportive, experienced, compassionate, and empathetic towards everyone.

They provide an extremely safe environment with lots of tools to assist with your experience. They also have licensed, currently practicing medical staff with many decades of experience in emergency care. It’s probably the safest place to have an experience, heal, or just explore the internal universe.

I’ve gone for pain management, healing trauma from my childhood, for meditation and enjoyment. And for those wondering if this retreat is everything it claims to be — YES it is! I can’t describe how wonderful it is. It’s the most beautiful setting and the nature feels out of this world. The property is very well maintained and there is so much space for everyone. I love to walk around and smell the flowers, listen to the birds and their songs as they echo through the gorgeous valley.

I will continue returning provided I can, and I highly recommend attending if you are able to. I can’t wait until my next visit!

Profound perspective change!

Eleusinia improved my perspective in a profound way. They prepare and manage every detail for you to have a life changing experience in a safe and long lasting way. It's not hyperbole to say it's a life changing experience. It's not just the medicinal mushrooms that cause a grounding, unifying epiphany, it's also the cradling forest and loving staff. The forest and gardens were extremely meaningful to me, but the professionally trained staff provided so much love and safety, they were a huge part of the healing process. I became a stronger, more confident person, with a deep sense that everything was going to be okay.

I was buried under grief, a shell of my strong self, and facing more eminent loss. Super fragile. I was scared to hand control over to a retreat to... "shuffle the deck". But from the bottom, I made a great decision choosing Eleusinia. I believed mushrooms could help me, but I didn't want a clinical experience. I certainly didn't want a teenage rave and I didn't want a hokey shaman experience either. Eleusinia was the perfect combination of science and knowledge meets nature and kindness. They teach you why and how classic psychedelics can have such a meaningful impact on the brain. How it can clean your serotonin receptors. How to integrate the feeling of unity and strength into your everyday life.

It does take a little grit and a little trust to transform ones self so quickly. But the luxury rooms and delicious abundant food help a lot too! My room was like a 5 star hotel. I loved my fireplace, my view, my bed, my privacy. You don't have to participate in a group experience if you don't want to. You can retreat to your beautiful room and eat all night if you want to. I did come out of my shell and really enjoy recapping parts of my intimate journey with other participants, but you don't have to. It's a wild ride, exhausting and exhilarating and ultimately extremely rejuvenating.

The most profound experience surrounded by wonderful experts

It's been two full weeks since my retreat at Eleusinia and I have taken some time to process the journey. Everybody's experience of psychedelics will be different, and I want my review to not be about my individual experience but everything that made it so wonderful.

Firstly: I'm a cynic. I believe in the scientific method and evidence based decisions and this proliferates around almost every choice Jessica and J make. Everything is explained extremely clearly and thoughtfully and every decision has been judiciously made to ensure the best possible chance of having a great experience.

I would extend that to all of the staff. Every single one of them went above and beyond to ensure we were not just comfortable and reassured but also felt deeply connected and supported. Whether that was putting a fire on in the living room as the night drew in, bringing us an extra lemonade when we were thirsty or having the time for a deep and meaningful conversation.. the whole team there should be extremely proud.

It's also worth taking a moment to mention the setting. Incredibly, the photos do not do the place justice. The surroundings really are beyond breathtaking and whether that's the natural area or the buildings themselves you feel safe, comfortable and surrounded by natural beauty. That includes Bernie!

For me, the impact of the two psychedelic experiences have been beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I can genuinely say that this is the longest period for several decades where I have haven't felt anxious or riddled with depression. I know the journey is just beginning - and there is a lot of reintegration work left for me but what has been possible from the retreat surpassed my wildest dreams.

A Life Changing Experience

It has taken me some time to communicate what I experienced at Eleusinia. I went there with no expectations. I just needed some relief from the grief and trauma that I couldn’t heal from. I was paralyzed emotionally and had lost my passion for living, an internal fault line, a void. Nothing in Western medicine that I had tried was working.

What I encountered at Eleusinia was an extraordinary cathartic journey back to my true self and peace, finally peace. Really, a miracle for me to find such an authentic, science-based solution delivered by such caring experts in an incredibly beautiful setting.
