Healing
When I arrived to this retreat, I knew it would be great but I wasn’t sure exactly how it would affect me. Initially, I was pretty anxious as I have social anxiety. I never leave my phone and I practiced less screen time here at the retreat, leaving my phone behind in the cabin for hours on end. By the 2nd day, I found myself no longer socially anxious or thinking about my phone. The practices helped me relieve tension and anxiety and allowed me to truly live in the moment. It was a beautiful and healing experience and I would definitely recommend.

A hidden sanctuary
The last time I had traveled solo was in 2019. Taking a solo weekend away to Ratna Ling (driving to and from 3 hours and not knowing anyone upon arrival) was a huge leap of faith for me. But I'm glad I took the risk and leapt. At Ratna Ling, the retreat felt like a return to "home." A re-discovering of my inner strength and self that has gotten hidden among the business of work and parenting two littles. I entered the retreat with "discovery" as my 2025 guiding principle, and I left with so much more clarity over my purpose, my direction, and belief in what I am capable of.

5 stars also for the cleanliness and thoughtful touches in the cabins, the idyllic grounds, and the absolutely DELICIOUS vegetarian food.

Restore in the Redwoods
Weekend at Ratna Ling any time of year is a gift and especially in the winter. The towering redwoods stand sentry around the spacious, cozy cabins. The heated lodge floor adds a special layer of comfort as you make your way to the yoga mat. Views of redwoods and hills and meadows and native landscaping are framed by the large windows in every room. At night, the moonlight streams in and stars twinkle. It is dark - no ambient light; and it's silent - no traffic. The vegetarian meals are sumptuous and nurturing. The company of like-minded individuals can be as restorative as silence. At Ratna Ling, you choose to interact, to retreat, to engage, to shelter or any mix that suits you. Ratna Ling is where my tranquility is restored, season after season, after season. I invite you to explore Ratna Ling, anytime. Namaste.

Amazing Bay Area Retreat Center!
After just returning from this magical place, I want to share with others how important it is to get away, if even for a weekend, to re-charge, go inward and be part of a beautiful community commited to making the world a better place, starting with ourselves. The cabins, the staff, the food, are worth your time and investment!

Amazing Place for a Retreat, Personal or otherwise
My wife and I just finished leading a weekend retreat at Ratna Ling, truly as the name implies, a jewel of a place. It is perhaps the 6th time we are held our events here, and it is consistently one of the best places in the world were we get the privilege to share our yoga with people. The setting is beautiful, the lodgings wonderful, the vegetarian cuisine delicious and plentiful and the staff attentive and always helpful. We love this place and can't wait to return in 2025!

Mission & Vision

Ratna Ling is a non-profit retreat and conference center nestled among the redwood forest off the coast of northern Sonoma County. Offering a peaceful respite from the pressures of modern life, we host a variety of workshops and retreats. Facility rentals for small private multi-day events (including Lodge, Conference Center and Pavilion Gardens) and Personal Retreats are also available. Our guests enjoy fresh and nourishing vegetarian meals, first-class private accommodations and the warm hospitality of our resident volunteer community.

Over many centuries Tibetan Buddhist masters have awakened the full potential of human consciousness through meditation, study, and work. In 1968 Tibetan Lama Tarthang Tulku brought the Tibetan Buddhist Nyingma tradition to the United States where it has become a catalyst for positive change.

Tarthang Tulku founded the Ratna Ling Retreat Center in 2004 to serve as an intentional and spiritual community of teachers, students and resident volunteers committed to practicing spirituality in everyday life. Guided by Tibetan Buddhist principles, we strive to share what is best and most beautiful in this precious human existence and to embody and transmit wisdom, compassion, harmony and depth of caring.

Our deep appreciation of the natural environment is manifested in our care of the land, vegetarian diet, and our commitment to support the interconnections of life necessary for the welfare of all beings. We are always taking the necessary steps towards environmental sustainability by practicing caring deeply for ourselves, each other, our surroundings and our planet.

We aim to support our sister organizations whose projects and activities work to preserve the Tibetan Buddhist culture and transmit the teachings to the modern western world.
