About our 4 Seasonal P.A.U.S.E. Retreats

(P.A.U.S.E.—Prayer and Understanding Silent Experiences)

We warmly invite you to our 4 seasons of P.A.U.S.E. retreats—sacred opportunities to appreciate the seasons, rest, reflect, and nurture your connection with God. These retreats center on Christian contemplative prayer, offering space for spiritual formation, soul care, holistic healing, and deepening faith. Guided by the words of Psalm 46:10, “...Be still, and know that I am God...,” our seasonal P.A.U.S.E. retreats explore unique aspects of spiritual growth and renewal.

While quiet moments of prayer are at the heart of our retreat, we also embrace times of fellowship, learning, and holistic nourishment—a rejuvenating pause amidst life’s busyness.

Spring P.A.U.S.E. retreat highlights
Our retreat, Christian Contemplative Prayer and Soul Care offers time to:

Understand the Connection Between Soul Care and Well-Being
Reflect on how caring for your soul contributes to your holistic well-being (3 John 1:2).
Embrace the Role of Soul Care in Daily Life
Explore the transformative power of Christian contemplative prayer and resting in God’s presence as essential elements of soul care (Psalm 23:2-3a).
Deepen Your Relationship with God Through Soul Care
Recognize how nurturing your soul fosters a closer more intimate relationship with God (Deuteronomy 4:29).
Experience God’s Presence in Nature
Participate in a shortened Forest Therapy walk, integrating Christian contemplative prayer with time spent in God’s creation (Romans 1:20).
(Note: You may sign up for full-length Forest Therapy walks on up-coming dates at St. Placid Priory.)

We invite you to join us this spring as we seek renewal, rest, and a deeper connection with God through the practice of Christian contemplative prayer and soul care. Join the sisters for evening prayers at 5 pm followed by dinner.

Contemplative Retreat
I have been to St Placid Priory several times. It is so peaceful and welcoming. I always come away feeling rested and cared for. This last weekend in Lent was just what I needed to refresh my Contemplative and centering prayer practice. I met and engaged with folks from other faith backgrounds and appreciated sharing our stories and experiences. I learned a lot. From walks in nature to delicious meals and comfy cozy accomodations, the retreat center calmed my weary heart. My only wish is that it lasted longer. The sisters are and support staff were so kind. What a wonderful oasis!
Everything about the experience contributed to a deep sense of peace and renewal by the end of my stay. Room was immaculate and comfortable, infused with the spirit of its patron saint Gertrude. Meals with the sisters were delicious and engaging. Each sister I encountered showed an interest in me as an individual. Praying with the sisters was moving and established a calm, centered focus for the day. Read More

Best part was being able to be in prayers with the sisters during the liturgy of hours as well as Sunday Mass, lived how welcomed I was made to feel at the Priory. I urge all people Catholic and non to try and spend a weekend there. Such a relaxing and powerful experience! Read More

Restful Reflecting
What a privilege to be folded into the priory for a few day. To close out the noise of my daily life with good rest, prayer, reflection, spiritual direction and a welcoming community. Thank you for opening your center to be a healing haven for me! I hope to return. Read More

Disappointed with the experience
Regarding my experience, unfortunately both my in person interaction and emails felt unwelcome and came across rude. I understand that tone can sometimes be misinterpreted, but the overall approach didn’t feel warm or professional. I was not able to relax or find peace here. Did not enjoy my stay Read More
