About this Retreat

Details of this retreat

Beneath the lush jungle canopy, cleansed by the waters of the Rio Lajas, step into sacred ceremony in this tropical riverside haven in Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula. At Soltara, we work with traditional Peruvian Shipibo healers and sacred plant medicine, as well as other traditional and modern healing modalities, to help you along this path of self-discovery. Our decades of combined experience holding ceremony and doing medicine work allow you to experience in-depth healing in a safe and loving environment. .

Our Commitment To You
We are called to serve medicine in sacred ceremony with integrity, humility, and compassion. By creating a safe space and working only with experienced, well-intentioned healers and facilitators, we uphold the lessons of the medicines and build a foundation of mutual trust, authenticity, and respect. We are not gurus, preachers, or enlightened beings – our healers are maestros who humbly transmit the knowledge and healing energies of the plants, and our facilitators are devoted to helping guests face, process, and explore difficult experiences and emotions, handle projections, manage expectations, and surrender to the process. We strive to uphold the highest integrity in everything we do and be a beacon for responsible, safe, and ethical practices, such that our guests feel safe and supported to get the most out of their healing. Menu Types

We believe healing even takes place in the kitchen. We take on the mantra by the Greek physician, Hippocrates: “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” We honor the role of food in our lives and expand it beyond its primary purpose of bodily nourishment – food can be an avenue to dig deeper into ourselves, consciously looking at our patterns and mindsets surrounding not just what we eat, but how and why we eat what we do. Our eating habits don’t just affect our mental health, they also reflect it. At Soltara, we aim to help you jumpstart this process of connection through conscious cooking on all levels. Diet is an important part of the healing process, both on its own and also to help prepare the mind and body for plant medicine work. We work closely with our shamans to prepare wholesome, delicious meals that adhere to the traditional dietary guidelines of working with ayahuasca. All of our meals are freshly prepared in-house by our loving kitchen staff. From fresh smoothies and juices every morning, to plant-based meals emphasizing local, organic, and sustainable produce, to lean proteins such a chicken and fish, we celebrate the rich local flavor of Costa Rican cuisine, and offer a chance to experience a connection to the land and culture while nourishing the body, mind, and spirit. The best choice I ever made
I made an excellent decision to come to Soltara for my first ayahuasca experience. I'm not a psychonaut so I had a lot of fear around what's going to happen. I can assure you the staff is very caring and are available for you 24/7. I felt taken care of all the time during the retreat especially the ceremonies. Special thanks to Jess and Kali who ran the container very well. As well as Ilan, Tatiana and all the Soltara faculty. And the maestros who are there to help you heal your traumas and allow you to move forward.

Apart from the journey experience, the accommodation, food and the location are excellent. I loved sleeping in the Maloca after the ceremony or go to the star deck. I miss the place and the people already.

I'm grateful to have this opportunity in my life to experience ayahuasca. I highly recommend anyone who hasn't done ayahuasca before to consider booking a consultation call with them. You are in good hands. Read More

Healing, Balance, and Renewal: My Experience
It has now been about six weeks since my seven-night stay at Soltara. From my initial discovery call through the entire retreat week, I felt deeply cared for and guided by highly capable individuals.

Standout impressions for me included the breathtaking environment—a beautiful oceanfront facility with hotel amenities and a kitchen serving delicious local cuisine. The caring facilitators, Tatiana, Christine, Cali, Paulo, Liam, and Leah, along with the dedicated support staff, created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the stunning, traditional round thatched-roof Maloca and the healing presence of the Maestros provided the space for a truly transcendental and restorative experience.

Throughout the week, healing unfolded through the balancing of my masculine and feminine energies and the release of guilt, shame, and regret, culminating in a profound, deeply personal healing of the Self on the final night.

I wholeheartedly recommend healer-led plant medicine in general—and Soltara specifically—to those who feel called-upon to explore this transformative path.

I am deeply grateful to the plant medicine, to Soltara, and to Costa Rica for helping me move forward on my life path.

With sincere love and gratitude,

Safe-Professional-Healing-Profound
As a first timer, I didn’t know what to expect.

Mixed feelings, and a sense of diving in the unknown.

From the moment I stepped in the Retreat, I felt that all my fears vanished at once. The facilitators were all so friendly, but at the same time, professional as well. They would give me their time to answer any question I had any time of the day. They explained everything in detail. The before, the during, and the after.

Especially during the ceremonies, they would be there to support you if needed.

I will be going back. There is not a safer environment to connect with the medicine.

Obviously my experience has been transformational, profound, magical. But this is Personal. So I’m not rating my experience. You need to do this for yourself. But I am rating the Retreat and its people.

Soltara is the best place to connect with the plant medicine. Read More
