Since 2018, Myles Katz has dedicated himself to advancing the field of legal psilocybin experiences. He co-founded The Synthesis Institute in Amsterdam, where he helped develop one of the world’s first legal psychedelic service models. This initiative supported over 1,000 individuals on their wellness journeys and included a significant partnership with Imperial College London, enriching his understanding of effective psychedelic practices. His experience with Synthesis led to an invitation onto the board of the Oregon Psilocybin Training Alliance (OPTA) and various Rule Advisory Committees for the Oregon Health Authority (OHA), where he helps shape the framework for Oregon’s legal psilocybin services.
Through the ongoing exploration of psychedelics across the globe and under the mentorship of inspirational teachers over the following eight years, Myles has developed a deep appreciation for both the power of the psychedelic experience itself and the neuroplasticity it fosters. This neuroplasticity helps individuals become open and receptive to things that otherwise feel out of reach or inaccessible due to the noise of our chaotic, technology-overloaded modern world. It has been pivotal in helping him and others make meaningful, lasting changes in the months following the psychedelic journey that once seemed impossible. He believes that knowing how to work with this neuroplasticity is key to using psychedelics as a tool to support the journey from ‘functioning’ to ‘flourishing.’
Myles’s own journey with psychedelics began at the age of 28 when he overcame his addiction to alcohol and lifted the fog of depression that had shrouded his life since the passing of his mother when he was 15. This profound experience revealed the incredible potential of psychedelics to facilitate deep healing and transformation. He is passionate and experienced in guiding individuals on their first therapeutic and inward psilocybin journeys. His goal is to help others not just make the changes they seek today but to embark on a conscious healing journey that transforms their lives.
With the Hi-U Foundation and Confluence Retreats – the nonprofit he founded and conducts his facilitation practice through – Myles utilizes his expertise to create nature-based, multi-modality psilocybin retreats within Oregon’s legal framework. These retreats are enhanced by partnerships with indigenous communities and are grounded in validated therapeutic practices, reflecting his dedication to facilitating profound personal growth and healing. At Omnia, he focuses on providing one-on-one client sessions, bringing elements of their transformative retreat experiences into a more traditional setting to maximize the therapeutic benefits of psilocybin.

I'm quite certain that I'll look back on the whole experience as one of the true turning points of all of my life.
Hard to imagine a better experience for a psilocybin journey. Not kidding at all.
Myles and Julianna were absolute masters at guiding us through the intentions and the nerves and the steps, and the whole Confluence staff was assiduous about taking care of our every need throughout the event. Gentleness, professionalism, openness, warmth, well-timed nudges, listening ears, flexibility, a breathtaking setting, great food, nice accommodations, deep discussion, laughs—it was all there. There was even a sacredness and ritual around the delivery of the medicine that put me in a reverential state for the mystery of what was about to happen.
I was initially reluctant about the group setting versus just a one-on-one experience, afraid that it would be too personal or that I'd do something embarrassing under the influence. None of that happened, and quite to the contrary, having the group was a massive benefit, almost to the point that I wouldn't want it any other way. We bonded up front, and that made it feel safer to go through such an intense experience for the first time. After the first journey, we processed together, supported each other, and shared that feeling of having weathered something powerful hand-in-hand. I still feel a gratitude and a love for my retreat-mates and hold them almost as family.
Having it be a retreat setting with multiple days in a place of beautiful nature was likewise surprisingly poignant. The follow-up one-on-one sessions with the facilitators, the walks in (stunning!) nature, and the group sharing circles all gave the medicine's effects space to sink in and integrate freely without the normal worldly cares interfering.
As for the psilocybin itself, just... wow. I had been stuck, with serious depression, anxiety, and anger, for years. That's not all gone, but I couldn't get any freedom or purchase on progress at all, and now I can. Something tight and blocked in me, emotional in nature but that I could feel even physically in my body, just opened right up, and now I'm moving forward again. I consciously wanted that ahead of time, and it was like the psilocybin was a genie that just granted the wish. Not all of my intentions panned out exactly like that, but this one was massive. In addition, this years-joyless man started feeling joy again, and this intuition-dead man started intuiting again. I started trusting again that God is watching over me. On those counts, I'm talking night and day before and after the journey.

I will forever be grateful for this opportunity.
In the fall of 2024, feeling quite desperate I made the decision to finally take a journey. I have utilized many modalities seeking to improve my overall health and wellbeing through the years including therapy, EMDR, SSRIs, neurofeedback, ketamine infusions and more. Researching mental health and resources for PTSD has opened my mind to the therapeutic use of psychedelics as medicine.
I felt so stuck inside myself, stuck in therapy, stuck in the same thought patterns despite active work seeking change. Honestly, I felt so trapped by mental barriers, weary, and hopeless.
So I reached out to Confluence Retreats, it took me a couple of weeks before I committed. The experience that I had facilitated through Confluence Retreats is one of the most profound of my life. I felt released from mental roadblocks and energetic blocks. This experience was indescribable; I felt an incredible energetic clearing and recalibration.
I have so much gratitude that I participated with a group, the environment felt safe and supportive. I am also so glad I was able to journey 2 times as each journey had its own offerings and I appreciate the breath work offered prior to journeying.
I believe I was meant to have the experience I did with the people in my group and will always feel connected to them, very impactful. Confluence offered well thought out supportive activities, delicious healthy food, and incredible facilitators and adjunct supporters.

Myles put together a package that was incredible...
I came to the retreat seeking to live more intentionally. To make decisions that are hard. To put it briefly, to move forward in life and not be stuck in limbo. Before Confluence, I was struggling with taking care of myself, drinking more than I wanted, and being less intentional in multiple aspects of my life. Now, after the retreat, I feel more decisive. Even in making very significant life changes. The immersive nature of the retreat, being surrounded by nature 🌳 and having the support of the group and structured program was invaluable. It's definitely a far cry from the idea of being alone in a motel room after a session! 😨 That would have been a very different experience. He made us feel safe and comfortable—which is obviously more important than anything.
Myles is super generous with his time and talent. He is very curious, and not judgmental whatsoever. Myles believes in what he does, and that comes across clearly. He is very upfront, and is open to asking any questions you might have.

When needed again, I would consider a return to a Confluence Retreats...
I attended a 5 day Confluence Retreat in October, 2024. This experience was my first with psilocybin and I am grateful that I was led to Confluence.
My intention was to learn which therapeutic modality would be most impactful and healing for me. Psychotropic medication and traditional therapy were not supporting my needs, after decades of participation. I chose the 5 day retreat, as I did want to experience two psilocybin sessions. I am glad I chose this option. My experiences for each session were very different, offering support with my intention in a more rounded way.
I had tried ketamine prior, and did experience beautiful visual experiences with family members present in those images. I did not experience any long-lasting impact on anxiety or depression from ketamine, however. My psilocybin experience was more subtle, however resulted in a significant emotional release and lead me to begin "inner bonding" therapy that I am finding very helpful.
I appreciated the whole experience I had at Confluence, as our group engaged in beautiful forest surroundings, breathwork classes, yoga, one on one therapeutic support, sharing of nutritional meals and sharing of experiences and exercises that I feel most definitely assisted me in translating my experience into direction, as well as keeping the memory of the experience strong. I do feel I would have lost the experience's direction if not for those reflective exercises and sharing with group. When needed again, I would consider a return to a Confluence retreat, one more rounded in support offered and individually supportive of group members' different experiences and fears. And I want to note that the after-retreat group and one on one support significantly benefitted me with integrating experience and making life changes.

What stood out most was the sense of safety and care I felt throughout the entire process...
I found Confluence Retreats while searching for legal psilocybin retreats in Oregon, and I'm so grateful I did. With previous experience in plant medicines, particularly Ayahuasca, I was familiar with their healing potential, especially in nature settings. I felt ready to take my healing journey to a deeper level.
My partner and I were excited to discover that Confluence offered accommodation at a forest retreat center, which immediately set the tone for us (the cabins were just magical with everything you need including a fireplace and outdoor hot tub)!
The psilocybin journey itself was incredibly powerful and transformative. Even now, weeks later, I continue to experience the healing effects and have made positive changes in my life.
What stood out most was the sense of safety and care I felt throughout the entire process. Every detail was thoughtfully curated—from the nourishing, healthy food to the nature walks, breathwork, pre- and post-integration sessions, and intention-setting circles. It was clear that the retreat was designed with deep intention and expertise.
For anyone seeking a profound healing experience in a beautiful, safe environment with experienced guides, I highly recommend Confluence Retreats. It was a life-changing experience, and I am grateful for the care and support that made it so impactful.
